Made a few updates since my last post. The biggest is I added the RJM Overture overdrive. It's all analog, but digitally controlled and has presets. The TK, IR-J, Overture and Compadre are all midi controlled from the VP4. The EV-2 is actually plugged into the volume pedal jack on the Compadre as a normal volume pedal. The Compadre is really underrated.

Really flexible and easy to use setup.

Wow, I had no clue RJM made anything outside of switching/utility products, that's pretty cool!
 
In the middle of a sea change. The top board will likely stay for some gigs, the one on the left will go away as will my small dedicated acoustic board (that's what the VP4 is sitting on. Not sure the pedals that will be on the VP4 board - likely a Wampler Belle and maybe tuner unless I get a quicker access setup with the VP4 - or the Harmonious Monk if I can't tweak the VP4 harmonic trem to my liking.

Unless the VP4 really annoys me, a bunch of pedals will be on Reverb soon. Plus just picked this up - the VP4 sounds glorious into the front of it.

Just showed up yesterday but so far - ridiculous amp. I wanted a combo that was reasonably light (ideally 30lbs, this is 35) and could get loud enough for a band situation while staying at edge of breakup (I'm not a squeaky clean guy). The preamp is unique - the setup is volume/bass/treble/master but the treble and bass behave differently than any other amp I've had. You basically are revoicing the preamp interactively. It takes some experimentation, but bass/treble on 10 is blackface territory, bass/treble on 5 is tweed (and you can control the grind with gain/master), bass/treble on 1 is more marshall territory. I've settled on gain/bass/treble around 4, that gives me kind of a cross between a tweed and vox with a little JTM45 sprinkled in.

The build quality is out of this world. He makes pretty much everything in-house (including the knobs), it is ultra-clean turret board build, and even the shipping box is well thought out. Pricey but in this case you get what you pay for. My other current rig is a Synergy 20IR and light 1-12 cab, the advantage there is I can send an IR feed to FOH on gigs and just use the amp for stage monitor. With the Bartel I'll likely hang an e906 off the front and send that. Advantage to the Bartel is it is one less piece of gear to haul.
 
And from out of chaos, order - or what passes for it here (2nd law be damned). The Ciocks parallel adapter showed up today, put a bunch of pedals on reverb and did the first build (Ciocks Sol underneath). I may swap a mini comp in for the Belle, but historically that has been a magic pedal for me, kinda in the "always on" category. Have the weekend to dial in presets, then rehearsals with two different bands next week.

Guitar > ego > lightspeed > 2 pre VP4 (4 cm) > preamp freeway or preamp be od (amp freeway) > 2 post VP4 (4 cm) > Ditto looper > reverb freeway

Ok all the pieces are in place for the next iteration of my VP4 rig! I just need to wire everything up so it will work the way I want it to.

Synergy 20 IR head, Friedman BE/BB mod, Mesa Mini Recto 112 V 30, PXM for the WDW mode! everything controlled using the Luminight M2!

Should be a potent little rig!

Nice. I have a non-turbo FM3 and am running into LOTS of issues with the newer firmware releases. Maxing out memory, sound quality, etc. The FM3 works fine, but I am thinking it just can't handle the newer firmware without more compromises than I am willing to make. To improve things I likely need to go fairly far back firmware wise to get something more compatible with my unit.
Anyway, I have been waiting or an AXE IV but who know when that will be, so I have been exploring other options. I have been looking at the Syn 20IR head (for me starting with the Bogner Xtasy module), and initially using it with my EVPXM12MP speaker, and then buying a VP4. Basically starting with a similar setup to yours.
Have you used it enough yet to comment on how the SYN20IR + VP4 with the EV speakers compared to a FM3FM9/AXEIII setup?
I had a VP4 briefly and returned it because at the time it seemed redundant with my FM3, but if I replaced the FM3 with a SYN20IR the VP4 would make more sense.
 
I have a Synergy 20IR with the Z Wreck module, have run the VP4 into the front and it sounds great (using either Mojotone British Lite 1-12 or Marshall ST112). Could also use it 4-cable or into the effects return but I prefer stuff in the front as I know how it will behave. The VP4 can also make the clean channel in the Synergy more usable - I find the tone isn't sufficient to get what I want.

Main plus for me is weight - head is under 20lbs.
