Routing Axe Fx III AES rme TotalMix Fx

I read that I could route the Axe Fx through AES but still record the dry DI from my RME UCX II. During my attempt I have signal but only from the AES output and not the AES input. Any RME users familiar with this?

I got it working. I had to change the Axe clock source to spdif/aes and the input 1 from analog to digital. My only problem now is the sound isn’t good. The sample rate is 32k. Overall sounds like a blanket covering the speakers. Any idea what this could be from?

For anyone whoever has this problem, I got it working correctly. Axe Fx III clock set to spdif/aes, rme clock set to internal. Now both sync properly at 48k. All sounds good.

For future reference, the instructions in the recording guide for setting up a rig with spdif apply to aes as well. Just substitute aes where you see spdif.
