Many many moons ago there were a free room and behind IRs given out, which I still use to this day.

Do any of the new cab packs have such IRs to fill in the voids of the in your face sound?

I believe they are known as far fields.

I do PZM ir files which capture the cab resonance and depth.

It's like a back of cab or room file, but with no phase cancellation issues.

Room IRs and far field IRs are quite different, technically. Room IRs are saturated with room reflections, while far field IRs are captured dry.

Hi Dr, so what is a PZM IR? Is that a PZM mic?
Yes, I capture ir files using a Crown PZM ( pressure zone mic) as well as using other mics to capture.

Mixing in the PZM in small amounts allows one to get the timbre of the actual cab interaction along with the other mic capturing the speaker activity. It helps fill in the voids that some use far fields, room mics, or back of cab mic ir files to do. The advantage of the PZM is less phase issues.
