Rick Beato on string gauge

Last year went back to 9's on all my Fender guitars, cant tell you why, just felt right and sounds good. Tried with my Gibson's also but in the end went back to 10's (felt good but wrong all at the same time on the Gibson's).
That's where I am too - 9's on any 25.5 scale and fat-bottom 10's on my 24.75 scales. Though I've got flatwound 11's on my Bigsby-equipped 335 clone right now, that's a weird one.

It's pretty wild that I need to use a 12 on my Jazzmaster otherwise I launch the string out of the saddle.

On my other guitars I use 10 gauge except for my strat and tele which came with 9 gauge and feels/sounds ok.

Likely the break angle over the bridge has a lot to do with that. There is an add-on thingie that helps with that....
I tried that, but that thing kind of killed the Jazzmaster jangle for me.

The Jaguar replacement bridge helped stabilize things so that the 12s were stable in the saddle.
