I do clean the fretboard when I change strings, plain water. That's it beyond string changes.Clean fretboards? Lube? Oil?

LSD is a helluva drug...Think I've mentioned this here before, but I read that Stephen Stills rubbed new strings down with bbq sauce and leaves them the a few days. Don't remember if that's guitar or bass, but probably bass.

Bass strings ain't cheap. Even if you're using the cheap ones thats almost $20 a week or nearly $1,000 per year.
