Prog / Fusion Recommendations?

A little late to the party

Sungazer. You may have seen some of Adam Neely's Youtube vids, but his band is phenomenal.

The guitarist in the first clip Joshua De La Victoria also performs under the name Victoria and is in the band Portraits

You're probably familiar with him but if not Jakub Zytecki is fantastic.

Now these 2 aren't what I'd traditionally call prog/fusion. But boy have I found both rather inspiring for different reasons.

Nova Twins. Imagine if Vernon Reid and Tom Morello had a daughter that played bass, that's Georgia South.

More straight up metal, but been listening to Novelists on a nearly daily basis. Their lead guitarist Florestan Durand is fantastic and new vocalist Camille Contreras great as well and able to transition smoothly between catchy melodies and screamy death metal stuff. But damn does this band hit me just right lately, most recent album CODA, which the below songs are on, is so good.

I'll always recommend Plini as one of my all time favorites, especially the "Handmade Cities" "Sunhead" and "Impulse Voices" albums. Also, Arch Echo is awesome, especially "You Won't Believe What Happens Next" I've got countless listens on these albums.

Definitely will second the suggestions for VOLA, Caligula's Horse, and Victoria.

Old school prog, albeit softer stylings than most of what's already been mentioned:

Ambrosia's first album: It has pop sensibilities, and no shredding. But it's a desert island disc for me. For the most "proggy" song on the album check out:

Gentle Giant - This is not a guitar centric band, but their catalog is definitely a favorite for my wife and me. Here are some tunes that you might enjoy:

The first Journey album is a prog/instrumental album. It's much different than their later hit centric albums:

Another favorite band is King Gizzard and the Wizard Lizard - they are very prolific so there is a lot to choose from. One album that I enjoy is:

Captain Beefheart

If you haven't gone down the Devin Townsend rabbit hole yet, I am totally jealous. He's got over 30 albums out and most of them are awesome. He's a genius and has a great sense of humor.

Great albums off the top of my head: Ocean Machine, Transcendence, Addicted!, Epicloud, Synchestra, Terria, Ghost, Empath, Lightwork, Ki, infinity, Deconstruction, Sky Blue, and many more!
