Does Al remember the exact voicings of multiple tracking on the album?

I suspect layering of different chords to get more ambiguity. So for the 2nd "D/E" chord it could be the bottom 5 strings of an Asus4/E, a E7sus4 (no 5th) and/or a Dsus2/E.

Whatever it is, one thing is for certain: If you want to cover Tom Sawyer, you certainly have the info needed, just in this thread, and any nitpicking over exact chord voicings, or what position he played one of the E chords at a certain concert in 1997, will in no way deter from how the song will sound live.

I can't argue with that. I was a bit harsh with the guy. I've seen far worse on YouTube so-called instructional videos. I hadn't seen the Alex lifeson tutorial before. My question is, why redo it when the man himself has already done it?

Alex did three videos for iVideosongs you can find fairly easily on youtoob.. How to play Tom Sawyer, Limelight and Spirit of Radio, right from the man himself.

Those are pure gold; after decades of not getting those songs exactly right it was fantastic to get lessons directly from Alex himself...studying the vids and finally nailing the exact voicings, riffs, phrasings, etc. was immensely satisfying lemme tell ya...
