Bug? Preamp Tube Type only changes when Preamp Hardness knob moved

Here's a new buggy effect, possibly relating to the Preamp Hardness storing problem.

I've tried to change the Preamp Tube Type with different amps.
All the time using one preset, choosing a new amp each time,
block reset in Axe-Edit to reset the amps completely.

I was wondering not hearing any sound differences, when changing the tube type.
So I moved the Preamp Hardness knob back and forth to 0 (zero).
After that I changed the tube type again.
And voila, the sound had been different ;-)

I think, that's not a correct behaviour, isn't it?

Kind regards.
Mike

You can't use an old Axe-Edit with a beta. Stick to the front panel of the hardware.

That's not correct at all!
I'm using Edit 3.5.1.
It works like editors did work in the past with new versions.
Only new parameters aren't there to use.
When I change i.e. the preamp tube type in Edit, I can see on the Axe display, what happens.
It changes!
And here starts a part of the bug.
The Preamp Hardness also changes in the Axe, but doesn't in the Edit.
And ...
When I change Preamp Hardness in the Edit, it also changes in the Axe!
Edit does his job.

That's because Axe-Edit has not been updated to work with this firmware yet.

Thanks for info Cliff.
But I have to disagree.
I've just tried it again on the Axe.
No Axe-Edit or any other connection to my iMac.

Amp MR Z MZ-8.
Menu page ADV on the display.
Guitar plugged in, headphones on; I can hear the sound of the guitar.
When I now change the Preamp Tube Type with the dial through the whole list,
there is no difference in sound to hear.
I then make a step down with the navigator button to Preamp Hardness and dial back to zero (0).
Then I step back to the tube types parameter and change the type setting.
Suddenly I can hear a difference in sound ONE TIME while THE FIRST CHANGE ;-)
Every further changing step makes again NO difference.

So this effect has nothing to do with the editor.
It's part of the Axe software itself.

And that is, what I wanted to tell you.
May be it's part of the bugs to correct in this beta.
But I think, it's helpful to hear about for FAS isn't it?

My fault is, that I forgot to include the technical informations about my system environment.

So here it is:
Firmware 2.01 beta 2
AxeFx II MKII
All tests with new resetted amps; no old presets has been used.

Kind regards to you.

None of the Preamp Tube Types have a hardness of zero or anything remotely close to zero. That's why you hear a difference when you manually change the hardness and then select a new tube type. Selecting a Preamp Tube Type also changes the Preamp Hardness.

I have verified that everything is working correctly and as intended.

OK; thank you Cliff.
I can't hear any difference in sound when I'm changing the tube types at the Axe himself.
Always the same sound.
That's the difference to earlier firmware versions.
There had been a distinct difference in sound between the preamp tubes.
"Selecting a Preamp Tube Type also changes the Preamp Hardness."
Yes, that's correct; I can see that on the Axe.

But let's stop the discussion at this point.
It doesn't matter, if the sound changes or not, when I change the tubes.

Iaresee has already told me, that my postings in the bug section are not very helpful
and merely disturbing the "good" fellows posting here.

Thank you and kindly regards to US.

I clearly hear a change with different tube selection!

Fine ;-)
XL or II?
I use a Mark II.

I'll try a system reset this eve.
Maybe that helps.
Most of the time, I didn't have any problems with betas beside the known bugs.
But it doesn't matter.
I will wait for the final release.
Hope all that stuff has been fixed then.

In April, I'll try the Kemper modeler and check it out extensive.
When it works on nearly the same level as an AxeFx, I sell all my Fractal stuff
an switch to Kemper.

Kind regards and a fine weekend.
