Potential Move to Germany! 🇩🇪

Hessen? Frankfurt main station, if you like „adventures“ :D

But sounds like we really should do a Fractal user barbecue someday …

Yeah, Frankfurt main station is a heavenly place... noooot. Actually not far away from where I live. :D

+1 for the user barbecue, maybe just not in the main station in Frankfurt

I'd suggest Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe, but there are too many wild raccoons here, we'd never stand a chance - basically, we'd be BBQing for them! (And, please, whatever you do, don't wear stuff that says "My home is my Kassel". It's cringe AF.)

Hey, @sskkmm, there's one very, very, very, important thing that I forgot to mention. No matter what region you move to, you just have to try Berliner Weisse! (Provided you're not teetotal, of course.) As the wiki link will tell you, it's a sour ale that is mixed with a shot of flavored syrup. Woodruff or raspberry being the classics, but nowadays you'll find mango, black currant and others, as well.

It's available pre-mixed or plain. I'd recommend getting plain "Berliner Kindl" (the blue sixpacks/labels) and Tri Top (a German brand of syrup, usually diluted with water to make a soft drink) in any flavor you like, except lemon/lime, as that doesn't make any sense with a sour ale.

As far as I'm concerned, it's WOODRUFF or DEATH!!! (Unless you consume too much woodruff, then it's woodruff AND death.) And be careful, in the summer heat it just goes down like soda pop and it's very refreshing, so it's easy to overdo it.

You got it!!!

Again thanks for all the info. We will prob end up close to Ramstein Air Base for my daughter’s school options, but we are really open to what we find once we arrive in country! Unsure of arrival at this time but will update as we know more. Enjoying our last couple weeks in Hawaii before flying around to visit family.

We live right around the corner from Ramstein Air Base. Cool!

Btw: I‘m German, my wife is American. I let her try woodruff, she hated it! 😁

The good news is all our stuff from Hawaii made it to Florida safely, and is now in a storage unit. I was able to see my guitars again!
The bad news is that we still don't have tickets to Germany. :/
We did (finally) get our status cleared with the German authorities- took 3 weeks to get that done. Now just working on getting all this household stuff in a container to head across the pond. Apparently my spouse's company have never had such a complicated move before?

Our hopes are to be on a plane in the next week, but who knows. It's been a long time and I have lost hope to get out of here... :)

Soon™️ :-)

All my stuff picked up and on its way across the pond! Whoot. Was great feeling - and nice to open up the guitars and gear and be sure all was well for the next voyage.
Flying tomorrow will be in country Friday morning. See you German folks soon!
