Post Your Rig!

My rig in my basement.....(ignore the V-Plex)

AXE-FX Ultra in a 4 space rack with a power conditioner and a Line 6 G-90.

2 Atomic wedges - one active (left), one passive(right) - mono obviously.

2 RJM MasterMind midi controllers.

The rig is spread out stage left and stage right so I can hear both myself and control the AXE from anywhere on stage.

This is the setup stage left:

This is the setup stage right - both MasterMinds are synchronized with each other and control the AXE.

Most versatile rig I have had.

G-90 is awesome. I used to use the X2 XDS95 and that was good. The G-90 is awesome - almost no noise, minimal if any loss in tone, well built, good battery life, good range - awesome piece.

Ugghhh - the lighting is really dim in my studio, so the camera washes it out, but anyways here is my home studio with the "Under Interrogation" look LOL:

I might be missing something, but how do you power the passive atomic?

I'm guessing using the actives speaker jack.

Correct. I have a 25 foot 10 gauge speaker cable from

http://best-tronics.com/guitar-cable/Sp ... 0-awg.aspx

I have my rack and my powered wedge stage left. I plug the speaker cable into the speaker out jack of the active wedge, run it across the stage and plug the other end into the input of the passive wedge located stage right. Then I plug in my MasterMind midi controllers and I'm done. Setup is a breeze. My active/passive system weighs less than a 2 wedge all active system and I don't need to worry about power for the passive monitor...just the speaker cable. Downside is my rig can't be stereo but I don't need that.

i need to add a couple good expression pedals to go with the mfc. that'll pretty much be the final touches to "my rig" version... dunno... lost count. i'm calling this one my "Rigimus Maximus"!

'A' channel (afx out2) is afx to mesa 20/20 to pair of 2x12 recto cabs. 'B' channel (afx out1) is afx to apogee duet to ableton live or logic to dynaudio bm5a's and bm9s. A channel sounds awesome. B channel sounds awesome. A+B = OMG!!!

goal is to setup mfc to control afx and manage looping delights in ableton live. primarily play through A channel, then when i want to loop cut to B channel. should be nice when it's all done.

cheers!

so, actually it looks like this:

- Sennheiser G172 G2
- Sennheiser EW300 IEM G2
- Fractalaudio Axe Fx Standard
- AVIOM A16-II - 16 Channel Mixer for In Ear Mix / Akku Charger
- Rocktronic PC750 / 2 x 250 Watt @ 8 Ohm
- Tubetown TT Rex Pro Stereo with 2x Beyma 12GA50 2x 250 Watt @ 8 Ohm

I've been playing guitar since the early 80's: weaned on boss pedals and early guitar synths (which I still use). Back in the day I was the cheesy organ player (the GR700 has quite a few) in many a short lived band along with guitar influenced by the Andy Summers Alex Lifeson vein of space filling. I left electric in the 90's for a forray into acoustic, altered tunings, and the world of Michael Hedges and Joni Mitchell, playing a Taylor 612CCE through a sunrise/boss vf-1 system through a Klipsch surround sound system. I did have the odd electric gig, using a GT-5 in place of the old pedals. I have recently returned to electric with my trusty Roland G808 and little steiny, but have added an Ibanez Egen 18 and RG2228 8 string (both wonderful guitars, but looks funny in the hands of a 45 year old).
Anyways like all of us G.A.S. gear-nuts, I love gear and blinking lights and options, options options. Condo living has confined me to headphones only but I have compiled the system below. I know what you'll all say, why not just use the Axe-FX? The AXe-FX is indeed at the heart of the system as it is the most "real" one can get direct to board, and indeed state of the Art. I do like the GT-10 and GSP as well as they have their own character and blended in behind the axe fx in the stereo field; allows for some great "composite" tones that I could not get otherwise. It's like painting or cooking, mix in a little GT to thicken, a little GSP on top for definition, or a mix of dirty and clean tones and various processing.

The setup is simple (not a live setup at all as it took 3 hrs just to wire up)
Guitar into voodoo lab amp switcher into 4 discrete signal paths:

1. The Fractal Axe FX Ultra, with the newly aquired MFC: I remapped my fave 128 patches of all 3 banks in the order of rhythms, leads, brutals (for the 8 string), signatures, ambients, cleans and effects. That way one doesn't have to change banks and one can easily find clusters of the various "needs". 2 old boss volume pedals work fine in the expression dept.

2. The GSP1101 with control 2 through a MPA Gold via xlr to add some warmth. Upgraded with all the latest firmware it's very nice although not in the league of the ultra, but can add extra dimension when mixed in.

3. The GT-10 has all my old clean stuff and my early days stuff too: it also effects my trusty GR-300 and GR-700 for Andy Summers sweeps and stuff like that. The 700 is also MIDI'ed to a Korg wavestation. It's a nostalgia thing, although it's got some quirky stuff in it and a stereo looper as well for setting up pads.

4. Last but not least is the Boss slicer which in the mix lives on the fringes of whatever guitar sound is being played. One VF-1 creates the tone to be sliced and another follows to effect the slice itself; with the various stereo settings it adds weird rhythms and percolations fluttering about. No direct guitar sound on this path.

The Vocal channel on top of the rack is for just that, vocals, but also acts as a very nice preamp for fretless bass.

So one mixes n matches the pathes, panning and adjusting levels like mixing paint, while having full control of each path. Like I said, it's not a live system, but it allows for endless fun in the studio.
