Post Your Rig!

Thanks Big Joe. Grosh really deserves tribute though for envisioning the concept (see post #561) I basically copied him outright!

Easy setup! One bag for LFP/Expression pedal, Protec Rack Bag (much larger pocket than the Gators), XLS1000, Randal 2x12 with G12K100's.

Here's the latest version of my rig. When I was playing out, I would take the Axe, and the 12" powered Carvin for stage volume and the 15's were for the PA. Now the little Carvin is for the electric drums, and I use the 15" 3-ways for the AxeII in my studio.

Easy rig to set up! Axe Standard => XLS100 => Randall 2x12 with G12K100s controlled by Liquid Foot Pro.

Protec rackbag (much bigger pockets than the Gators!)

Got most of my rig together today.
Will probably get a Furman Power conditioner in between the Axe and the breakout-panel.

The panel for all connections is mounted over the Axe since the rack is supposed to be standing face up.

My 4 year old son approves the rig. :p

I use it with a Yamaha DXR12 speaker and FCB1010 midi-controller.

So why not guitar direct to input of the Axe?!

I use straight Neutrik plugs for my guitar cables and this way i keep the axe clean from cables and stuff pointing up.
And i also dont have to plug in and out of the Axe over and over again. Feels better to use the locking chassis-jack also.

Love the breakout panel in the front. I gotta get myself one of those. I usually keep my Axe on the floor in the case on its end, pointed straight up, so I can get to it easily sitting at my desk or just noodling on my couch next to it. So right now I have a 4-space rack with a space open where I can reach in and get the cables that are already connected and just shoved into the case when I'm not using them, or moving it from place to place. That breakout thing would make it SO much nicer and easier to manage overall. The only thing I might add in there is the MFC jack. Also 120V instead of that crazy 220. :)

Axe FX II utilizing wet/dry setup controlled with rack mixer. Output 1 routed to channels 1,2 of the mixer for wet signal, Output 2 via FX loop routed to mixer channel 3,4 for dry mix both in stereo. TC G Major inserted as an overall effect that is switched in through Instant Access switch, GCX used to put 3 pedals in front of the AXE via Instant Access, Custom panel interface From Vafam Sound to get FOH L & R, USB, Midi, Cat 5 and rear panel for speaker connections. Speakers are rare EV M-12G guitar monitors with EVM-12L speakers. Matrix GT800FX power amp, and the final item in the chain which sounds really good is the Aphex 104 Aural Exciter. This adds a lot of sparkle to the presets and in my opinion sounds way better than the BBE stuff. This rig replaced a Matchless DC-30 with a ton of boutique pedals and I could not be happier with the tone and functionality of the new setup. Furman Power, Line G90 Wireless, Korg Rack Tuner.View attachment 14151View attachment 14152View attachment 14153

Nice pics! Just curious, what does the rack weigh in at?

Thanks, I can pick up myself with some struggles. I would say 175 lbs if I had to guess. I really wanted an 80's style guitar rack but wanted to center it around the Axe. If I had to do it over again I would probably use (2) 8-space cases instead of (1) 16 space just for transporting issues. I really do love the sounds and flexibility it provides and set up is 5 minutes thanks to the interface panels.

That is sweet.... I have a 12 space rack that is simlar layout that I can relate to carrying it around (very heavy). I like bringing the AxeII in my 4 space rack to the studio much eaiser. I leave a cab in the studio and just carry the 4 space unit to practices. I load up the 12 space rack for gigs. I need to order a rack panel for that sometime in the near future.

very nice indeed!

Thanks for the kind words. I am glad to get it finished and to get to use it at live shows. There is a really talented rack gear builder in Houston called "thetonedoctor" that did the layout and wiring for me. He is a great friend and an amp/electronic genius.
