Post An Old Music Related Pic Of You

Axe-Master
Thread title says it all. Post an old music related pic of you. Maybe at a concert. Maybe playing a concert.
Could be a garage band pic, or just one of you jamming with your buddies....... a long, long time ago. :)

My son just turned 16 and we were looking through old family albums of photos and I realized I was 16
when I started to play guitar. Thought it would be cool to share some old pics of us in our heyday, or not
so heyday. :)

My first gigging band. The drummer signed us up to play in a battle of the bands that was 6 weeks after our 3rd rehearsal, we played originals and had none completed. I wrote and we performed 9 tunes for that (my first ever gig). I'm on the right with my champagne pink Westone Pantera. The (absent) singer had a friend at the newspaper and we got featured. Band name: Righteous Sire (there's a story...;))

A few years later in my garage / rehearsal space. Same band with a couple different members and a new name: HiJinx. Dig that Charvel Fusion Deluxe in rainbow crackle and my awesome stache!

Another incarnation of that band playing a club at the local Air Force Base. I believe we might have been called Mach Turtle at that time.

Another version of HJinx and the start of my long history of working with female vocalists. I'm the one crouched down:

This is with the band I started afterwards and ran for 26 years, TooMuchFiction. This is from the California State Fair (about 6 years ago). This is my 1987 Ibanez Sabre I built entirely from parts and my son refinished:

I just found a bunch on FB the other day-

Playing in my first original band with my dear friend, Mad One, dude’s a surgeon’s assistant by day, brilliant dude….and the scariest human being I’ve ever sat in the same room with. He plays in a bluegrass band now. I was 23 around this time-

Same band, but my first time singing and playing guitar in it after our vocalist bailed to go chase some chick. This was at the Revolution down here in Ft. Lauderdale when our band had a decent sized following…..one of the most exciting times of my life=

Singing in a band I joined just south of Boston. This was at the Middle East in Boston, where so many amazing bands have played over the years. The monitors were so loud at this show and the monitor guy bailed, I sang the entire set on the floor with the audience….all 12 of them.

Playing with my bro, Mad One, once again in a new band 10 years after the previous pic of him and I. Once that dude is onstage, he’s just so into his thing that every picture of him is ridiculous. He once made a mask out of human skin he collected from tummy tucks. Not joking.

This was just 3 weeks ago, I got to sit behind Mike Manigni’s kit for a little bit. My buddy works at the Portsmouth House Of Drums (I don’t think that name is right) but Mangini is selling his kit and has it setup there. You can get a pic behind it for $10…..or if you know someone who works there, you can do a little more. ;)

OK here goes...

First a semi-recent one with a very old tie-in.
One of my high school bands, US Steele (sic) had a 45th reunion a few years back, on one guy's farm up in Vermont, gorgeous.
I'm the guitar guy :)

And this was I think my very first band, The Missing Lynx, '67 or thereabouts, roughly 9th grade.
I'm sitting, w guitar and creature.

There's another absolutely classic one from between those two that I can't put my hands on at the moment, will try to track it down.

This would've been 1997, freshman year of high school, got my band on a school talent show. Jackson PS-4 and a Digitech Whammy/Wah, and I believe a Peavey Bandit 1x12.

Same band in 1998, our school did a field day sort of thing and they let us play on the field in between events. I'm behind the drums here; the guy with the Axis and I used to switch places mid-set. That's my Soloist SL1 on the stand which I still have today :)

Mike Portnoy did a meet & greet / signing at a local Sam Ash store, 2003.

The kid playing bass on the left in that band pic from 1998 has been one of my best friends since before kindergarten, and we still play in a band together today.

Though I've got a few much older pix, this one from 1992 is kind of interesting since it illustrates 'unusual-for-the-time' equipment and staging: playing in a duo with backing tracks, dragging around an entire IBM PC running an MSDOS-based sequencer (driving a synth rack & drum machine for the backing tracks), using IEMs (no stage monitors), and MIDI controlled lighting. My keyboard buddy and I still play occasional gigs together with a similar configuration, just with all that tech 30 years more evolved (+ less hair & more wrinkles :)).

Me on right with my stylish white jeans. Using one of those Gracie stands for the acoustic so I could jump to electric and back and forth. This was at a place called The Lions Den in NYC (no longer there) and was taken in 1992 or 1993. Fun times.

I love seeing all of these!

This was my last week playing for the church music group in 2005.

This was my first band I threw together - Territorial Yard Gnomes - we had one gig in a coffee shop.

This was my band that lasted 10 years - Stumbling Free. Note the computer monitor as I was recording this first gig for some reason lol

As promised, another band pic, early '70s I think. Posted in part as a cautionary tale about listening to people who want to manage your band... But also because it's Fun, assuming I'm not mortified, which it's hard to be from this distance.

I'm the guy in the purple glitter farmer jeans and sparkly gold shirt. For some reason.
