Guess it's not my day, going from Record to Play there's a gap. Works fine with these settings on the AxeIII and my timing is good.
 
As post 2 in the link above mentioned: Is there a hold function assigned to switch #2 in that layout?

It looks/sounds like you press it on the beat, then playback starts on release so there's that short extra bit included in the loop.

(The "record" press timing seems good, BTW.)
 
The default layout for the looper is not good in my opinion. There should not be a hold on the play switch. I had to change this before I could use it successfully. I do understand the value of having the 2nd button hold always take you to home, but for the looper I'm happy to access that on the next view only.
