I read on twitter a while ago that JP was back with triaxis/2:90 on the g3 tour.
Maybe he want to use stereo-effects with axefx and that's easier with that combo

Right, he used a Triaxis/2:90/Axe-Fx based rig for when G3 toured South America. Judging from the YouTube videos, it was the best live tone he's had in years (IMHO):

Have you tried using the 2:90 with the Axe? How comparable was it with the Triaxis?

I have and I personally think the Axe-Fx II sounds better than the TriAxis. The 2:90 is my ears favorite power amp but my back & wallets worst enemy bc it's super heavy and expensive to replace 11 tubes. I think everything sounds great through the 2:90 and I like the coloration it has. I currently use a Crown XLS 2000 power amp bc it can get as loud as the 2:90 and it weighs about as much as the Axe-Fx II.

I have used my TriAxis and 2:90 with the stock tubes and new tube kits from EuroTubes.com. I always find it hard to compare tube amps to the Axe-Fx II bc the Axe-Fx II always sounds consistently good but the tube amps sound different every time I use them depending on how warmed up or loud they are.

Not sure why JP would even bother using the TriAxis. My TriAxis and 2:90 have a lot of sentimental value but they're just dust collectors now, so I really need to get myself to sell them.
