Paint chipping off?

All should be well going forward.

Got a very prompt response from Axe customer service this morning:

We switched to a new sheet metal vendor. Those problems were with the old vendor.

Thanks,
Marty

If that was Fender' they would put the price up by 1/3rd and call it relic'd  Just look at the Rory gallagher strat, who in their right mind pay's to have a new-damaged guitar

Man, talk about thread drift. And have you ever played a Rory Strat? I bought one used, and it is the best Strat I have ever played. Period. You know why Fender sells Relics like hotcakes? Because there are a bunch of people buying them.
The same people who would buy a pre-crashed car at double the new price to save doing it
themselves. :D :D

You know, the knob on the front is pretty large. In fact, it's large enough that it's possible to adjust it without rubbing and smudging your fingers all over the faceplate. As a matter of fact I'd go so far as to say that it's fairly easy to adjust the knob without having to touch the faceplate at all.

Just making sure you knew.
