Overclocking the AX8

I suspect this would be driven by the desire to reduce the time of audio muting when switching certain functions.

I'd bet that would void the warranty though, if you could even do it.

This would be very difficult to accomplish without access to the developer tools and would probably result in very minimal gains. And the best case scenario would leave you with a device that is unpredictable at best with the potential to drop out or restart in the middle of a gig. And that's assuming you don't permanently damage something in the process.

In general you want to stay away from screwing around with embedded systems.

Easy to do.

You simply remove the AX8, then put a MFC-101 where it was. Connect that to an Axe Fx II. The XL version is actually on sale for $1999 to help this modification work more easily. Bam, done. Same sound, much more CPU available.

You can send me that left over AX8, I can always use a spare. :)

Yes, if you plug your smartphone into the USB socket, the AX8 will utilise the smartphone's processor to handle secondary tasks, thus freeing up the CPU for more blocks
