Old records

Young people will never know the joy of pulling the cellophane off an album, putting on a pair of headphones, and getting lost with gazing into an album's artwork and liner notes, especially if the album was a foldout or double album.

Many gems there! - After first glance I had to throw on Gino Vannelli - Brother to Brother - Awesome!

My Vinyl's long gone so no pics, but a sampling below from the couple dozen albums that populated my album crate in 76 - several hard earned from paper route $ - scratchy from overplaying, covers beaten from hours of viewing the graphics while lying on the floor with my head between the speakers.

The Drama album shows how songs can evolve organically, escape the traditional 'verse > chorus' format and still can be identified as a song. I particularly like 'Into the Lens'.
For years I was haunted by Machine Messiah. It's where I started to notice each instrument part and meaning in the composition. I mean their conversation :D. Then Run through the light.

Still have a few hundred albums here as well. I do like the sound of vinyl depending on the recording. The artwork is great as well....after seeing this post AND after blowing leaves today, they will get some playing time.

These two covers were stared at a lot in my teens. Those bands were within the first 3 concerts I ever saw back in 1977.

I had a big pile of old albums, was getting fed up with storing them.
I took them to a shop off Oxford st and sold them. [about 15 years back]
I was a stones nut when i was a kid, all their early albums which he swagged straight away, and a right mixture of 60's-70's which he wanted every one.
I stopped buying albums mid 80's i suppose...cassettes then.
Of all the albums i took there he didn't want the RAINBOW ones lol. Deep purple...no probs, scooped up 'in rock'.
I eventually slung the Rainbow albums in the trash. Being a massive Blackmore fan that was quiet painful but there ya go.

I've been buying LPs here and there for the past few years. I have maybe 30 now? Anyhow, they all sound like ass compared to the digital versions but damn do I ever love the large size artwork, liner notes and inserts. I really, really miss that stuff in the digital age.
I've been collecting LP's for a few years now. This is really dependent on your setup/system.

At worst, my LP's sound no different from their digital counterparts. I only have a few outliers that truly sound like garbage.

Most LP's I have, even some more modern ones were re-mastered for vinyl and I can hear a step up in sound quality and transparency when compared to their digital counterparts.

I do however also have a pretty nice turntable with a good cartridge, along with other good audio components and speakers. YMMV.

remember "Indiana Jones was here"? or the references on the cover of somewhere in time "west ham 7 - arsenal 3 " 23:58 . I studied them for days :D
(that's iron maiden covers)

Really cool idea, I miss the old albums & artwork. Years ago I got rid of my vinyl, but did keep my KISS albums - couldn't part with those. :)
