The GR-55 has a Program Change command map so that you can assign a midi PC command to any patch in the GR-55. By default, PC #1 selects GR patch User 1-1, PC #2 selects GR patch User 1-2, etc., but you can assign any PC to any GR patch. It's a manual process where you have to assign each PC to a GR patch on a page in the System setup.
Oh, and the aggravating thing about the GR-55 (like the old GR-20) is that it won't do Midi Thru, so in order to chain it together with the Axe, you have to run midi from your footcontroller to the Axe first and take the Midi Out of the Axe back to the GR-55. So you have to have 2 cables from the floorboards to the Axe.
