NGD: Schecter Sun Valley Super Shredder Exotic

I've actually found that the stock pickups (Schecter sunset strip bridge and Pasadena neck) have become my favourite pickups of all my guitars. I do have the hardtail version so it might be slightly different to the trem.

I can't seem to find the Sunset Strip at all in the UK so I can't put them into any other guitars ☹️

Very cool. I think the trem makes all the difference in the world. I don't know why it makes this particular guitar sound so thin.

Hey man, hit me up with a DM if you want a set of those pickups. Recently purchased the SV Exotic hardtail and I love the guitar but fookin' haaaaate the pups with a passion. Happy to get rid of them for short money.

Congrats to @State of Epicicity for the purchase! I also have one of their super shredders with a trem (replaced with the 1996GT) and it came with the sustainiac, really dig it overall, Schecter isn't screwing around with their builds lately!

Just want to say that as a new SVSS Exotic owner, this thread has been super educational. Thanks, @State of Epicicity, for keeping the thread updated as you experiment.

Did you ever find a pickguard replacement? I'm going to be messing around with mine too and just assumed I could get a replacement from Schecter...but sounds like that's not the case?

Loving the guitar, btw. The neck is super nice.

Thanks very much, and Congratulation on your new axe! I really like the neck too; I feel like it may have ruined me for other neck finishes. Unfortunately the pickguard is not available anywhere. The rep at Schecter said they will not sell any parts to customer, including the pickguard. All they will do is to replace a part under warranty. No custom pickguard shop has this model programmed, but there are shops that say you can send them your pickguard to a have a replacement made. The only thing is, if the package goes missing, you'd have to just make one from scratch yourself. Not the biggest deal, but it would take a little time. If you have a 3D scanner, that might be a good way to go, then maybe send the file to a shop to remake it.

Here's more of the saga of my guitar in general:

And here's where I am now with the resplacement SVSS:

Let me know if I can help with anything!

Interesting how divisive these stock pickups are; they really seem to be love em or hate em. I picked up the hardtail version of this guitar recently and absolutely love how it plays, but I'm in the hate em camp on the pickups. I can't seem to get the tones I want from them. I think I've settled on wanting to replace the neck with SD Full Shred, and I'm debating SD Full Shred, Saturday Night Specials, or the JB/TB-4 in the bridge.

What's wild is that I really like the 2/4 position on the stock pickups, but in humbucker mode (1,3,5) I just can't get into these pups.

I replaced the bridge pickup in my Schecter with an SD Hybrid Custom/59. I like the outcome, but what I recall (it was several years ago) was that it wasn't a huge difference in tone. Maybe a little less output, which is what I was after.

I had the Full Shred in a Charvel, really awesome pickup!

I have an SNS pair in a PRS S2, not too excited about that one.
