Meanwhile I didn't realize how much mileage I got from a high end MacBookPro as my main studio computer. That and a big (42") screen is all I need.

I'm confident that my 2018 Mac mini will be sufficient for my needs the next 8 - 10 years.
Maybe I'll add a eGPU at some point.

running logic pro a loaded 28 core mac pro is only 38% faster than an 18 core loaded imac pro?
Am I reading that right? I think I’m dissappointed...i bet the price plus imac quality display is astronomical...hmmmm

Yep, I'm still on my 2009 MBP and 2011 iMac 27. Would love to see what this one would do but I am no closer to maxing out my iMac with what I do that I am to maxing out the Axe Fx III with the way I play!

Yes. You need to play a lot faster to tax a 28 core CPU.

TT: Seriously - for "normal" DAW work alone it would be more than overkill. These machines are for intense work like multicam 4K or higher editing and rendering.

Any "standard" Mac will serve as a DAW platform just fine for many years to come.
