Yes, it can be done with layout links assigned to the 3 scene switchesSince we are just killing time now.....
I just built a pedalboard with dual Tonex Ones, but I have been wanting to get into Fractal and my eye is on the FM9. I would like to set up the scenes/switches similar to how Kemper does it. Can the FM9 do this?
For example, say I have the first 3 switches set up to be different scenes. 1st is a clean scene, 2nd is a crunch scene, and 3rd is a lead scene. When I switch to scene 1, can I set it up so that switches 4-9 are different individual effects? (think kitchen sink). And then when I switch to scene 2, switches 4-9 CHANGE to be different individual effects? And then when I switch to Scene 3, switches 4-9 change to DIFFERENT individual effects?
So basically switches 1-3 are my scenes, and switches 4-9 are effects, but the type of effects change based on what scene I'm on.
Let me know if that doesn't make sense![]()
Those little TONEX one, onces the new FW is released will be transformed in to a very powerful very small almost all in one power house!Since we are just killing time now.....

Thanks DLC!
On that topic, what are y'alls thoughts on Tonex FEEL? Yes I know completely subjective. I had Kemper for 6 years-ish, never had a problem with tone at all. But I have to admit the Tonex has a better feel under my fingers, there is a certain bounce like a real amp that is satisfying to play. However, it is much harder to get a useable sound, Kemper is so easy to get a good tone and then you're done.
Someone in another thread was discussing disabling input noise gates, lower MV (idk what that means), disabling power amp modeling gives a "feeling" more like Tonex, but the OP ended up selling.
Wanted your thoughts on this.
definitely yes. It's really hard to find a multi efx on the market! It simply doesn't exist! An fx4 would solve all my problems! I'm really hoping for that! If it's something else, I'll be forced to run for an H9, which is expensive and very limited.Looks like it might be an effects-only device; roughly the form factor of the FM3, but at a significantly lower price point? Seems like there's still a market for something like that.
As Fractal said, this product does not replace any existing one. So there are only two options:I quite like the Tonex One honestly. The stock camps sounds pretty good, especially a clean fender (can't remember if it's a super reverb or a pro reverb - but I like it). I also bough the Mesa bundle - more so I could use them in my DAW, but they hold up well on the pedal.
For context, I have two main rigs.
One is FM9 by itself doing everything. This is for silent stage / IEM use.
The other board is based on HX Effects + Tonex One + Polytune + Expression + modified Boss GE-7 EQ pedal. I use this with my MEsa Mk 7 amp. T1 replaced my tube screamer. I normally run the tube screamer model in T1, using it's "stomp box model". But if my amp should ever go down, then I can toggle into the T1 "A/B mode", where I can switch between the Fender pro/super stock preset above, and the Lukather preset in the Mesa Boogie pack. T1 is tough to beat when it comes to value vs size vs ease of use.
I haven't used the capture function. I want more control over the settings, rather than just a snapshot of one set of settings. It's nice that I can capture an oddball drive pedal, but it doesn't do much for me otherwise.
It is my hope that a possible "FX4" will replace the HX Effects. It'd be even more awesome if an FX4 also included some basic amp/cab modelling - but if not, I'll just keep the Tonex One handy.
Before I got my first Fractal earlier this year, I built a 4CM board with the HX Effects. Something like that with Fractal effects would be pretty great.definitely yes. I love tonex, but only home. About the tone, all captures free that I try desappointed me. I found a good tone when I bought captures. Tone junkie, freman, tone factor, amalgman….Thanks DLC!

As Fractal said, this product does not replace any existing one. So there are only two options:
1- only amps
2- only modulations
If this equipment did both, it would be on par with the FM3
Judging by Andy's set that had no modulations, I hope it is an FX4.
Many MEH captures change drastically for the better just by changing the IR, there are gems that get discarded just by a improper IR.Tonex has some really good captures but you have to find them among a ton of meh-to-junk ones, and that's what I find irritating on these capture devices. Much much easier and enjoyable to tweak a proper amp sim and dynacab to your taste
That is true. And they can sell upgrades to reach the level of axe3.Nope. Lots of other possibilities, including:
Other than marketing and Fractal's approach to managing multiple cores, I see no reason not to include (at a minumum) a capable set of amps and effects. l only see upside in making the product appeal to a broader set of people (some of whom will go onto buy other Fractal products).
- Most but not all amp and/or effects (perhaps "upgradeable").
- A carefully curated selection of amps plus all the effects.
This also does not prevent optimising the UI and defaults for some use cases (which still allowing other use cases).

A big reason not to will be to avoid infringing on sales of its other products. I also can't imagine the whining that would happen from people about why x amp is included in the 'carefully curated selection of amps' and not amp y.Nope. Lots of other possibilities, including:

Unless theyWith no headphone output the chances of amps is nill IMO, unless it's thrown in as a bonus "last resort backup" option.
