New Fractal product coming!!

Cliff has stated this new product won't replace an existing one. I would be shocked if this isn't effects only
Why not combine the 2? Makes great business sense to me. Why make a new product of a failed product? The FX8 worked fine from everything I have read-it didn't fail because it didn't work, it just was not as popular=period! You guys make it sound like amps got more popular. Sorry, just the opposite.
Jus sayin, I really don't care but logic dictates not repeating a failed product.

(1) this product form factor may be much better than the FX8 for adding to a pedalboard rather than being the full pedalboard, (2) if the user interface is "simple" this can compete with Strymon, Line 6, Eventide, Boss and others for a modulation/delay/verb spot. That is a large marketplace worth exploring for Fractal. Strymon has refused to make this product for some reason - a three or four button footswitch with all of their algorithms. There are a ton of guitarists who don't want anything to do with amp modelers or software editors, too. Most of the folks on this forum are not that audience at all.

you realize the product already exists, it's just not been revealed yet officially. The probability wave had already collapsed, we just don't know about it yet for certain.

It probably powers other pedals like the Amped 1 can do. Cool complimentary function IMO.

Maybe, but that feels a bit too random for a device that is tight on space and (presumably) trying to reduce cost.

A power out socket is is not a feature that would cause someone to buy or not buy the device. For those that need the extra power socket there are so many other options.

I'm holding out for (in order or preference):
  1. Amps
  2. Headphone out
  3. Bluetooth Audio in

Just because a product failed in the past doesn’t mean a similar product with different specs would fail now. The world and market has changed since the FX8 was released.

I don't see the value to Fractal to not add (some of) the amps they have in their software library. It's not without some (small) cost to add it (but they should be setup for that with their current, diverse product line), but possibly it's easier to include amps and have one less difference between the shared codebase.

I don't see any deep benefit beside avoiding cannibalizing sales of other Fractal products or the ability to use cheaper, lower end CPU/DSP.

If there are no amps in the product, they turn away a good percentage of people who would never use an effects only box ... especially one that big or expensive. They leave the door open to Line6 to capture those people in pedalboard market and sub $1K price.

I don’t really care to capture anything but model it the Fractal way and I’m happy. I would be happy with a very powerful effects pedal from Fractal. I love my Strymon BigSky and Source audio Soecteum and C4 synth. Fractal effects pedal with all the power of the axe would be incredible. Let me layer effects of the Sam type different and on and on.

What I find funny is the angry toddler vibe some of these posts seem to be taking because whomever doesn’t think the box will be exactly what they think it should be. It’s a magic box you don’t like it don’t get it. I’ll probably like it but with kids heading to collage my budget is quite limited. It will really hurt if this is a product I really want and can’t get. Of course that means it will most certainly be a product I want and can’t get.

It would be interesting if this is an effects only product. What kind of price discount off of the FM3? Not sure where this fits because you can certainly run effects only through any of the current products. Having the FM9 I was hoping for something similar to the Tonex or Kemper Profile Player form factor. I wouldn't think Fractal would make a product that A) isn't astonishing in what it does B) would sell well. Hopefully it'll be released this month. Still excited to see what it is.

FX only I would think 350-600 but would hope more low 179. I doubt that would happen.

Hey maybe they will! But Strymon, Eventide, Meris, and others seem to be doing pretty well with multi fx. Almost like there’s a massive market there in effects.

I would think that Strymon might have released a combo of their big 3, plus maybe some of what they've done since those were released. But, doing so would almost certainly eat into sales of those pedals. Look at the significant price increase of their newest big box pedal.

I'm definitely interested in Meris, though I still think most of that can be accomplished in the Axe FX III.

The hx effects, plethora, eventide h90, the Meris LVx... etc all are doing well. What were you saying again?

I'm an amp guy and I'm incredibly hopeful this is a great fx unit, because fractal gets effects, routing, and editing in the right way that works best with my process and how my mind works. I bet I'm not alone.
