Well, I'm in a pretty happy place.
A few months ago, I received my Dingwall Combustion V4 5 string. Pretty much a week after SeeD got his. It quite quickly became my goto bass for my recording and both bands I'm in.
I never like going without a backup, and both bands also work in different tunings (one is always 1/2 step down, the other is standard or Drop-A). So to ease my mind of having a great backup and be able to switch tunings even easier, I sought out a backup Combustion.
While I like my V4, there is something about the older ones that I liked as well. I can't quite put my finger on it - they're just slightly different tonally. It is likely the preamp, the Vol/Vol/Bass/Treble setup instead of Vol/Bal/Selector/Bass/Treble... I dunno. Either way, it's super pleasing to have something very similar, but slightly different.
Without further ado... my pair of Dingwalls (shitty photo, since it was late/dark):
On the far right you can see some of my other gear trying to sneak into the picture and feel relevant...
Red Sparkle unlined fretless EBMM Bongo 5 HS
Firemist Orange EBMM Sterling 5 HH
Spector Euro 5 LX
More/better photos coming "soon".
