My First Gig Using the Axe-FX Ultra - Video

These are all awesome. I, like everyone else here, am impressed with the playing, even not considering the difficult circumstances. Both congratulations and best wishes for you!

Wow. Comfortably Numb is still one of my favourite solo's (and the reason I started playing guitar a long time ago). You do it justice.
Really impressed. Awesome video/audio work also. I hate youtube music vid's shot with iphones and the likes.

Great stuff! Playing and production are top notch.

It's funny how gigs where you are having a crap time aren't really perceived externally.

As an Axe Fx Ultra newbie, it'd be great if you'd share any one of those patches where the guitar is right out front as it would be a great reference as to how the Axe sounds at home solo against sitting in a live mix.

It'd also be interesting to know whether you have to do much with you global eq to make your sound guy happy.

Cheers,
Jamie

[EDIT] Ok, after further reading I see that you don't share patches as a rule. Any comments regarding your method of dialling in sounds at home would be great. Do you just get a sound that is right when recorded or do you have totally different sounds recorded/live?

Super impressed. On a good night with tons of notice, I would not have been able to pull that gig off. Also, I watched the Pink Floyd video before reading your story and I would not have guessed you were in such distress. Well played, sir.

Symphonic Rock - Superb!

The core band (lead vocalist, guitarist (me), keyboard/violinist, bassist, drummer) plays regular gigs in Vegas, mostly classic rock and 80s at various casino showrooms. This was the first of what we hope will be more symphonic shows. We have two more scheduled in the first half of next year. We may also bring it to California. Too soon to tell.

Lon Bronson (a local musician/conductor) scored and composed the orchestral sections. The orchestra is composed of musicians from Las Vegas and parts of California. I imagine we will change the set up to some extent, choosing songs that lend themselves to this format. Next time, I should be my old smiling self again.

steadystate,

Very impressive stuff. Pro all-around! You play great (very accurate) and (from an Axe-FX standpoint) you've created some excellent/"artist-accurate" patches as well! I'm sorry that you were in such a "pained-place" emotionally that night, but atleast you played very well (albeit not very "smiley," but that's totally understandable!) If you ever make it all the way east to the Boston, MA area, I'd love to see this act! :)

Wow outstanding performances all around!
I must say one of my favorite parts to watch of these videos is how much fun the violinists seem to be having.
That blond on the far right ( or left as you look at it) has got a huge shit eating grin on her face almost every second the camera hits her.

Having that much fun at a gig doing covers is awesome to see!

Dang steadystate

You got it together man, you sounded awesome.. I noticed your guitar right away because I have two Carvin Bolts with the Floyd Rose, well matter in fact just about my whole studio and PA is Carvin..

Super job bud, you rock!!

I finally received some footage of my first public gig with the Ultra. I was called to do the gig on fairly short notice, so I scrambled to create the presets (and learn the tunes). But it still sounded way better than my previous rig, even though I've improved the tones since. No dazzling solos or guitar gymnastics, but it was a great way to debut my new rig.

Unfortunately, I was very ill the night of this performance, and had just learned that my wife had another guy and wanted a divorce. It really shows on my face now that I see it from an external perspective. I look sick and miserable because I was. That night was hell on earth for me. But life is much better now. 8) Now that the obligatory excuse section is out of the way:

Great show!

Hope you are doing well now and some cheaters got their @ss whooped!

Absolutely outstanding. Luckily in addition to the personal mess the cat didn't kill himself, the dog did not jump from the 14th floor and your youngest son didn't say anything uncomfortable; maybe we might not have seen that masterpiece !
Wish you got more happiness now on the personal field; howbeit, worse seems not possible.
Thanks !

MMmmmm, been there before. Pain pulls you in some weird ways. You pulled it off like the real pro you are.
Very impressed!

Funeral always plays tricks on me finding the right guitar harmony to play (so many to choose from and i seem to pick the wrong one allot!)
I'll be listening to yours before i play it next time lol!!

Holy crap. They were all good, but I am still floored by Funeral, I can't imagine it being done any better than that by anyone. And if that was all done while you were in a bummer mood I can't imagine what you'd do in a better state of mind.

Thanks for sharing!
