Moog Buys Fractal - The Gear Page

PR Newswire

Asheville, North Carolina, USA

Moog Music, Inc. ("Moog") of North Carolina has purchased New Hampshire based Fractal Audio Systems ("Fractal"), makers of popular digital equipment for emulating analog and vacuum tube guitar amplifiers and effects.

Moog Music, Inc. is the leading music electronics company originally started by Bob Moog and his R.A. Moog Co. near Ithaca, New York. Beginning with theremins and branching into the uncharted waters of musical synthesizers, Moog has done more than any company to integrate electronics into popular music. And with its Moogerfooger line of effects pedals for guitarists, Moog has long been a staple in the world of professional guitar.

With the acquisition of Fractal, Moog further expands its product range for recording and touring guitarists seeking the ultimate in sound quality and features.

Vladimir Ballmer, Vice President of Moog, describes Fractal as "the crown jewel in digital guitar modeling and emulation today. With Fractal under the Moog umbrella, we are excited about new integrations with our Moogerfooger line of guitar effects that will inspire the current and future crop of world class guitarists."

Moog announces that the current Fractal products will be transitioned into new enclosures to match the brilliant physical aesthetics that have earned Moog numerous product design awards over the years. Fractal's top of the line Axe FX II product will become the Moogerfooger Electroblitz as of April 15th and will be released in limited numbers clad in golden mahogany with a standard version arriving in early June cast within yellow pine and available in a variety of attractive shades.
