Midi Output of my Ultra

This is odd... I can plug the midi out/in of the Ultra into my RME 9632 in/out and it syncs up to use Axe edit. I need to merge 3 outs (Roland TD-3, TD-4, and Axe-fx) into the RME in. I have a Quadra merge. I get the midi light on it to light up (powers up from input 1) from the TD-3 and 4, but the AF doesn't light it - why is that?

Also, going through the merge, Axe Edit says 'Hardware Busy?' Why would that be? Thanks - Shep

The merger is throwing away the sysex messages.

Thanks for chiming in. Please explain how that happens. I've seen DAWs able to thin midi data - but I don't see how that happens here. According to this, it doesn't do that:

Is there a device I could replace it with that doesn't throw the messages away? Thanks - Shep
