Any MIDI Mate users having a hard time fitting the AC adapter into the rack. That thing is monsterous.
I dont think running a Furman type rack power conditioner will help either. Any suggestions for a 4 space rack?

Thanks,

I know what you mean, it's big. but not sure it's any bigger than the X2 Wall Wart? I just stuck it in the middle of my Furman, the X2 takes up the other slot, and then I have about 4 outlets free, 1 for the axe and another for my powered monitor. I am still dreaming of a Furman Conditioner that has a Voodoo labs style power brick thing built in so I can power a bunch of these 9v contraptions.... There is an alternative, but it's pricey and very specialist.

I think they were in the $800 range if I am right.... No wall warts and no buzz :) I really don't understand why furman doesn't just provide one with some 9v outlets.... I had a onespot that feed a bunch of boss / fulltone pedals etc. no problems, how hard would that be?

The other solution is to change the wall wart for something else like the OneSpot

Maybe you could make use of some wall-wart removers?

I don't fancy those floating around in the back of my wrack. For a 4U space I cannot believe you cannot fit these in, what else do you have in there? You only have 1 or 2 wall warts right? How many outlets do you need?

I think the line lump or wall wart remover may be an option.

I have the Ultra, and a DCM150 in there right now taking up 3 spaces. I believe the furman isn't deep enough to clear the back of the Ultra or power amp, so the wall wart will have to squeeze in there somehow. I thought about using a surge protected power strip, but the rack is too shallow and the cabling get in the way.

I will have to ponder this one a bit more

Thanks for the responses!

That's a cool product, the only bummer is it doesn't provide 9VAC on any of the outlets that you need to power Rocktron Midi pedals. It would be cool if they had the ability to switch not only the power type but voltage as well for those pedals that run on 18 VDC.

I use a splitter like that and have the wall wart zip tied to a lacer bar in the back of the rack. The lacer bar also helps me manage the cables and cords.

As a side issue guys, I picked up a Hosa 7 Pin Midi Cable but it comes with one side being a 90 degree bend. This sucks as you cannot put it on the Axe FX as it blocks the Phantom Power jack. I am forced to put it on the Midi Mate, that is lame as the jack in the midi mate forces the jack to go down which goes into the ground and there isn't enough clearance. So my midi mate is slightly raised by the jack. I had a pain finding the 7 Pin (locally).

Anyone, have good recommendations for straight jack 7 Pin Midi Cables? Probably on-line so I can just be lazy and order.....

OK, nice cable. I would have bought it, but it's 30' that's huge! I don't need that much. Just a lot of extra cable to wrap up. I hate that.... Do they make the same cable but in a smaller size (at least half that length!).

Not according to their website. You might try sending them an email and maybe they will be able to hook you up with something.

So I found another snag.....

The voltage output of the MIDI Mate adapter is AC, not DC. :!:
So that further limits options for a different adapter.

Back to looking into how to mount the original I suppose....

Another way I mount those dreaded wall warts is to use one of these

Along with some 3M Dual Lock.

Warning don't use the Dual Lock, the adhesive side, on anything you plan on removing later. Dual Lock is like Velcro on steroids.
The four or five wall warts & power lumps have not moved since using the Dual Lock.

Cheers,
Dan

Here's where I got mine

http://cgi.ebay.com/Rocktron-30-7-Pin-M ... m153.l1262

I purchased it at the same time as the MIDI Mate and saved on the shipping

It's 30', but you never know when your controller will need to be 30' away from your rig :D
Ok, here's a great company..... I think they might have the solutions for my cable needs... Including an Insert Cable.

Whoops... Just noticed they don't list 7 PIN MIDI cables.... I'll give them a call and find out if they support it under their custom section.... bummer...
