I'm wondering if what he hears when he describes the "whoosh" would be what I hear when I describe "note bloom" ?

If that's it ..., then for me it's model dependent just like in the analog world .... Some amps 'bloom' a lot and some just don't !

In my experience the note bloom is largely dependent on the guitar itself, though. I had this one R9 that felt like you could control an almost vowel like quality with your vibrato and the note would just open up and then easily blend into feedback. I have an explorer (with throbaks) that does a similar thing. With the Axe FX, no less. Can't wait to try the gain enhancer parameter with some Plexis and my Hiwatt patch...

And that guitar volume comment I just don't get: to me the Axe feels exactly as responsive to the guitar vol as any amp I've ever played
