Line in versus Mic & Pad on Apollo Twin?

to address the question in the original post. i think using xlr ins and sticking preamps on the channels might be overkill. i would be tempted to keep everything line level and maybe just use a little eq and perhaps some compression on cleans. it's easy to overdo it. having said that, it would be trivial to test it out, do a comparison and see which you prefer
