I tried the Neural Cortex. The capture function was very good when I put Axe FX 3 amps on it. Overall nice unit but FM9 was better IMO.
 
My Axefx3T sounds so good, and I'm old enough, if I never got another update from today on, I'd be fine with it. It's the only product I'll ever need. If it dies, I bet my Ultra will still fire up.
 
My fear is that, as good as FAS is, they may degrade over time, and without support, one's beloved [insert FAS product here] becomes a boat anchor. I am currently having trouble with tracking on my AX-8 (which I have love-love-loved for a decade or so). My post has received one one-word response so far. Search for "Synth and Pitch Tracking Terrible?" in the AX-8 discussion. This is not a sign of a healthy community.
 
The price is prohibitive compared to what an fm3 or even a second hand fx2 can do. Even for a backup I wouldn't spend that price for a two button pedal

The community isn't healthy because you have an issue with a 10 year old discontinued product?

It's a monophonic synth block on a piece of legacy hardware. It's going to glitch. That isn't degradation; that's the limitations of the algorithm at hand.

i think the first post is just a joke and sarcasm, based of a similar thread that appeared a few days ago.

the AX8 didn't degrade over time. it is as good as it was the day it got its final update. problems with tracking today means it had the same problem back then.

every gear company has gear they made before that is now discontinued and not supported. this is not unique to fractal at all.

again, the AX8 does exactly what it did today, as it did 9/11/2018, the day Firmware 10.01 was release.
