Let’s see your les pauls

I forgot about this one.
It is a Studio that popped up in Marketplace (FB) one day and was less than a mile from my house. And it was only £300.
The seller was a super nice man who plays in a local punk band (The Vees). He must have been hit on the head or something as he was changing over to a telecaster. No taste....
Anyway, one rock n roll animal. Apparently.

I have no doubts about the quality. I love singlecuts and have had a few, but there’s singlecuts and there’s les pauls. Last year saw a shift back to LP haha.

Did you use Titebond original ? That's what Gibson use to glue them together in the fist place.
I actually used Titebond III. It seemed to give me a little more assembly time and a stronger adhesion once cured. I also thinned it with a little water to help it get into the entire crack and cover all of the surfaces as completely as possible. Seems to be fine now. I've been playing it all week at the conservatory and I have a gig tonight that I'm taking it to so I think it's a success. :)

My black 2016 R8 was my first Gibson CS. It was a great guitar. This one looks awesome.
As I wrote this one was originally black too, but the paint was in horrible shape and felt like rubber when I got it. But the price was too good!!
It was interesting that the maple top under the paint was (IMO) pretty good looking with that many mineral streaks. Was surprised that Gibson used opaque paint for it. Originally I wanted to have it repainted black again, but then decided against it.

I tried looking up how many black R8’s they have done, this puts me at 3 or 4 lol.
