Kemper Player is out, so pretty much all the competition now has a mini 3 button product… still no Fractal FM3 Lite???

I'm waiting for a Fractal to split up the Effects and Amp modelling in two different units that are the size of the newer Kemper player. Pair the FX one with your amp or amp modeller/profiler of your choice. Pair the Amp modelling with the external pedals / multi-fx of your choice.

I need to start keeping a tally of how many threads are made telling FAS how to run a successful business and make a "buttload of cash". It should probably have it's own forum section. It would be much easier for Cliff to reference that way.

Some of us couldn't care less about "must have" amps or cabs :) Unless the Fractal unit can load any amp from their collection, it's way too limited for their ecosystem

And it seems to me that mentioned "competition" is the competition to each other, not to Fractal
Maybe commercial data proves me all wrong, but anyone who did some serious homework comparing FM3 to mentioned products AND to what it takes to get same level of flexibility and power in the compact rig (extra pedals, power, etc.), can't really see them as anything but a backup rig

But yeah, I'd still pre-order a Fractal "backup" mini-device if it was ever made available.

Would love to incorporate the kemper player into my rig, but why on earth is there no midi jack? usb midi can that tie into the axefx III somehow to switch patches along with the axe?

When cell phones came out, they were huge then everybody wanted smaller ones and now......?
In a few years everyone will be claiming how flimsy these little boxes are and want more beefy boxes that have some girth.
I want Fractal to make a 4 space unit with a whole bunch more cool stuff that Cliff conjures up.
Don't forget, Yngwie said it, "More is More"!

That new kemper will just be a cash cow for all those guys that sell kemper profiles. They are all probably licking their chops thinking how much more cash they will get off the new influx of tards thinking somebody else's underwear might fit better.
Did I mention I sold my Kemper the day after receiving my AF3?
IDK, who would I rather be developing my guitar tone generator....an ex keyboard guy who doesn't play guitar or.....Mr. Chase?

Those others sound great, but the Fractal stuff is next level. We all know that.

If FAS released a stripped down mini unit with:

  • 5 or 6 classic/must have amps
  • 5 or 6 classic/must have effects
  • 5 or 6 classic/must have cab/IR’s
  • OR with less available blocks to keep memory/DSP down

…they would utterly slaughter the competition and make a metric buttload of cash.

And right here is where that concept is dead in the water: “must have” for who? Ask 100 different people, and you’ll get so many different responses that it’s not even worth trying to release a neutered version.

The FM3 is incredibly powerful and is already a lightweight unit. It still runs stereo XLR unlike the kemper, and has a host of features that are useful live and in the studio. It goes without saying that it sounds better than the rest. If you need more functionality a mosky footswitch or airstep can add more button functionality.

The point is, the unit is designed to be modular. As small and robust as possible with plenty of ways to add extra functionality if needed,.

I've traveled with the FM3 in a mono M80 backpack that goes under the plane seat (personal item) with my guitar being my carry on and clothing folded and squeezed into other pockets in the backpack and gig bag. With still enough room for a laptop, toiletries and more.

It already -is- the lightweight champion of the modeling world.

What I read is the Kemper Player only has 2 FX blocks before the amp and 2 after. I'm pretty light on using FX but that would be a deal breaker for me.

And I reaaaalllllyy like the FM3. I'm extremely happy with Fractal tone and effects.

I want a FAS Maxi!!! Axe-FX III floor with a fully functional FC12 in one package. A wee little pedal would be great for a back-up rig.

the thing is you actually don't have all that many choices , if you look at manual its very limited compared to the Stage as far as effects , there is like 2 boss chorus , 3 delay a single , double tap and legacy , 3 verbs Hall, Room and spring I think
