Just to add to the conversation....taken this week at the Les Paul Anniversary Gig in New York. OK so probably not but it makes a great photo!

It wouldn't surprise me to learn that a significant number of high profile players have an Axe but may not use it live due to contractual obligations and/or the preference to have a traditional amp-based setup on stage. Plenty of the "big guys" are serious gear hounds and buy and use all sorts of stuff in the studio, for song writing, etc.

More likely that it's part of the backstage (belongs to the venue, or another entity), and it gets used. They may or may not give it a shot on a 'what the hell' basis, but these guys are creatures of habit, so when they decide, it's usually gear that they know and understand well.
