Humbuster Cable

Is there a reason a 1/4 balanced cable on both ends won't work to take advantage of the Humbuster technology. Won't the amp just ignore the missing wire? Thanks.

The problem would be you are connecting a balanced cable into an unbalanced input. The idea is to eliminate the ground noise and convert the TRS to a TS connection.
You can use an EBTech HE2 to do the same thing (if you have one)... Use a TRS from the AxeII to the HE2 device then a TS cable from the HE2 to the Amplifier input.

Doesn't work that way....

Yes, there's a reason. "Humbuster" requires a separate wire that runs from ground on the amp end to the ring on the Axe end. The wire picks up the same ground noise as the shield does, and that's all it picks up. Humbuster uses that information to send an equal-but-opposite noise voltage to the amp's input. That cancels out the ground noise.

If you use a cable that's balanced on both ends, it will, as you say, "ignore the missing wire." In other words, it won't get the signal it needs to do its job.
