How to wire a passive high pass filter aka Low cut bass cut

How do I wire a passive high pass filter aka low cut or bass cut internally in my guitars? I pretty much have a 160hz high pass filter before the amp of all my presets, so I'd like to mod my guitars, so they internally have a high pass filter. I've read that a few guitars come with passive high pass filters like the G&L P.T.B., Reverend Bass Contour and Fender TBX. I'd also like to add a passive high pass filter to my bass guitars because I usually have a 80hz high pass filter before the amp of all my presets.

I keep my guitar electronics pretty simple and my pickups go to a 5 way switch to 500k volume pot to output jack. I remove the tone knobs from my guitars because I've never used them.

For bridge humbucker pickups I use either Seymour Duncan Custom Custom SH-11 or JB SH-4 and for neck humbucker pickups I use either Jazz SH-2 or 59 SH-1.

I read that I need to put a capacitor in series, so I tried putting multiple different capacitor values right before the output jack but they made no change in tone. I bought a Ceramic Capacitor Assortment Kit that has 36 values, so I tried 102 (1nF), 222 (2.2nf), 332 (3.2nF), 472 (4.7nF), 562 (5.6nF), 682 (6.8nF). I even tried two 102 (1nF) in series, so 501 (0.5nf or 500pF)

I'm not very good at reading schematics, so if anyone could provide pictures or wiring diagrams, that would be most helpful.

This is the wiring diagram I've tried with a 500K and 1M pot and I tried without a pot, so the capacitor was connected from the volume pot out to the output jack. It's from post #4: https://www.tdpri.com/threads/reverend-bass-contour-wiring-diagram.556593/#post-6371465

I also found this wiring diagram but don't think I can use it because I coil split my humbuckers: https://www.seymourduncan.com/blog/tips-and-tricks/mod-squad-muddy-sounding-neck-pickup

The series cap needs a resistance to ground at its output to work against. Try putting the cap in line before the volume pot. Fender used a 3.3nF cap in the Jaguar, IIRC, and a 250k pot, so a 1.5nF or 2.2nF ought to get you in the zone with a 500k pot. You could use a no-load tone pot in parallel with it (since you have the regular tone pot yanked) and get adjustability of the amount of lows trimmed, which would be a handy thing even if it was a "set and forget" most of the time....
