After reading this and our band starting to do this again, I wanted to take a crack at it on my FM3. My requirements were to catch the outro solo arpeggio harmony and I didn't want to have to relearn what I already play. And the less tap dancing the better(fail!).
Hope this helps someone and maybe they can improve on it! I have very little theory background, so I just kept feeling around till I got a note that was the best it could be to my ears while keeping the scene use to a minimum(fail again!) And selfishly, it will also help keep this in posterity for me...
Leveraging all the information from the threads above, I made a new preset(attached):
Scene 1: Rhythm for the song - add drive for the solo
Scene 2: Harmony before the arpeggios - global scale 9
Scene 3: ARP 1(tab pic)/ARP 1(scene name) - global scale 10
Scene 4: ARP 2(tab pic)/ARP 1A(scene name) - global scale 11
Scene 5: ARP 3(tab pic)/ARP 2(scene name) - global scale 12
Scene 6: ARP 4(tab pic)/ARP 2A(scene name) - global scale 13
Scene 7: ARP 5 and 6(tab pic)/ARP 3 - ALL(scene name) - global scale 14
Scene 8: ARP 7 and 8(tab pic)/ARP 4 - ALL(scene name) - global scale 15
Sorry, realized that I shouldn't have used 1-x for the tab pics and scene names, it makes it more confusing.
I did a quick and dirty tab write up as not everyone plays it the same - it's simplified, but if you know the solo, you'll figure it out, it's pretty repetitive.
I'm using 7 global scales(Scene 2 -> ARP 8), also attached. I start at global 9 and go to 15. I think(?) if you import the patch, and import the global scales in the right order, it should just...work?
I have mine set up for the far right scribble script to cycle through each scene - Besides timing the changes, the kicker is when you go around the second time, I have to stomp it twice to get to scene 3 as it's programed to cycle from scene 2 - 8(Scene 2 only gets played one time).
Hope it works and helps someone out there!
Edit: Added global scales if you play it half step down(we do).
