Half of My Heart/Dont it lead tone?

Definitely Dumble and also a Two Rock. Here he is playing with his Two Rock Sig from 1:46 in

He didnt really have the same sound in the video. :-| What kind of settings would you use? Larry Carlton and Ford dont use that sound and they use Dumbles. Is it just fingers?

I've mainly seen him play with just fingers, no pick.
better dynamics for sure, and you hardly ever drop your fingers

Its not just JM who gets that sound. Its also on Dont It. Drink a Beer by Luke Brian has a similar lead GTR sound. The solo on Journeys song Whos Crying Now kind of has the same texture. Was a Dumble and a Strat used on all those recordings? I think something else is missing.

I think the key is a good sparkly near the edge of breakup clean tone, then add some compression and a smooth overdrive, with some nice reverb and maybe a touch of delay.

I've only had my AxeFX for a few days, but I'll try to dial something in later tonight. If I have success, I'll report back.
