FX Loop block

Is it possible to use the FX Loop block in order to bypass a certain amp model's preamp within the Axe Fx?

I'm interested in using an external bass pedal preamp and running it through the axe while only using the power amp section and cabinet. Will this work?

Not with the FXL block.

You can try using the Tube Preamp type, with everything in the block set neutral and Drive Low, to minimise the impact of preamp modelling.

Nope. Many have suggested that or at least to be able to insert an FX loop inbetween pre-amp and power-amp section. IIRC, according to Cliff/FAS that would make it easier for other companies to reverse-engineer the Axe I/II (this was with Ultra, I think). So it weren´t an option back then and I guess that it is still true...
