not really its more an FM3 +FC6 combo with more cpu , but same build as FM seriesThis is a brand new unit right ?
That's kind of like saying the FM3 is an Axe Fx III with less CPU plus an FC-6 with less buttons...not really its more an FM3 +FC6 combo with more cpu , but same build as FM series
Not really- Axe-FX III is "the masters workshop" and is a completely different CPU architecture than FM3/FM9. FM3/FM9 share similar architecture. That's kind of like saying the FM3 is an Axe Fx III with less CPU plus an FC-6 with less buttons...
I think that's a fair point. However, I still don't think we can dismiss the FM9 as a new unit...Not really- Axe-FX III is "the masters workshop" and is a completely different CPU architecture than FM3/FM9. FM3/FM9 share similar architecture.
Hope so. Waiting for trickle-down firmware-nomics to pay off....Well, Axe FX III just got a big point release (18.0) yesterday, so hopefully it’s our turn to get our 2.0!!
Can’t wait!
Haha - love that!!Hope so. Waiting for trickle-down firmware-nomics to pay off....
It was if you were a AX8 or FX8 user. The last update for FM3 was early August. Not typical for FAS to have such a long span between updates.

Well said. As a programmer it's difficult to exaggerate what a PITA it is porting code between platforms. At least FAS cares enough to have a dedicated team bringing innovations from the flagship product into the more portable and affordable ones.Cliff is involved directly with the AxeFX III firmware development. He's mentioned that there is a separate team that handles the FM3 firmware that ports his work over to that unit. I assume the same for the FM9 (either the same FM3 team or another team handles it, but not Cliff directly).
As mentioned, the CPU architectures for the FM units is much different from the one the AxeFX III uses. This can generally create challenges in porting some things from one unit to the next. Couple that with having to play catch-up (by design), it means FW updates for the floor units are typically going to be much less frequency than the flagship.
The updates will come. In the meantime, enjoy the great sounding hardware you've got and make music!
Maybe for other companies. Prior there were quite a few updates pretty much every month for the FM3.its pretty typical for the non-flagship units.

Now that they've squashed a couple bugs on the Axe, maybe they can turn to the FM9 now.
Larger user base for the FM3. I mean, what are there like a couple of hundred FM9s in existence.
That's not a lot of people they need to keep happy.
