Front input not working when rear input connected?

Here's my problem. I want to hook my guitar up to the front input on the Axe FX and I've got my computer out to the rear input on the Axe as I use it for an effects processor for Ableton as well. The problem is that when I switch to the front input on the I/O menu on the Axe, there's no sound unless I unplug the rear inputs. Anyone had this problem or know of a solution?

From the Axe-Fx User's Manual:

Rear Panel

Input1 - Connect line-level input sources to these jacks. If using the Axe-Fx as an effects processor use these jacks and be sure to set the INPUT SOURCE to ANALOG REAR in the I/O menu.

NOTE: The front panel INSTR input is defeated whenever a plug is inserted into this input.

You can use the front and the right rear at the same time though.
