Fractal FM3 USB port and chip

Is the Fractal FM3 USB-B chip identical to the chips in the Fractal FM-9 and Axe-FX III? Is the chip soldering scheme identical in all devices (Axe-FX II vs. Fractal FM9 vs. Fractal FM3)?

How do I invite a FractalAudio account to this thread?

Reach out to support! My understanding is that all usb-b female ports would mount the same way on the PCB, they don't each have unique designs. There is actually a video of someone replacing their USB-B port on their AX8, if memory serves.

I would assume that not supporting USB over MIDI has more to do with other aspects of the unit rather than physical qualities of the port itself.

Axe-Fx III and FM9 have a separate USB microcontroller that handles USB, among other tasks.
FM3 USB is built into the SoC.

Is the USB built into the SoC for the FM3 MKII Turbo, or does it now have a separate microcontroller similar to the Axe FX III and FM9?

Hi, could you help me locate the USB port controller chip on the FM3 circuit board? Unfortunately, the USB connection still doesn't work even after replacing the USB port. :(
Thx !

Unless you have some sophisticated rework equipment and the actual processing unit what you’re wanting to achieve is going to be fruitless. Factory repair is the best solution.
