No match at all to the Axe in my opinion, not even remotely.
Tbh, I liked his early videos like "How to play guitar like Lil' Wayne" ... Since then the faces and annoyance has gotten much worse. I mean; he has a lot of views, so obviously it works. You can't argue with success. But damn ... just why? He has a good technique, I bet he could be a successful youtuber even without behaving like a third-rate Jim Carrey.I'm not sure what it is exactly but something just irritates me so much about that guy. He's always making that face. ughh.
I think the problem is that you expected too much. Bias in his cheapest installment is $70. That's the price of a video game nowadays. Or a single stop at the GAS station if you live in central europe and not in the US. $200 and you get the entire package. It is literally the cheapest all-in-one solution on the market.I used the uninstall function of both within ten minutes.

I did not have much of a personal expectation, I tried BIAS on the basis of the particular claim of the video that is subject of this thread. That is what the discussion is about, isn't it - can BIAS replace an Axe like they say in the video? So far I honestly don't see it doing that. And of course, that is exactly what you should expect for the price. If it could, my Axe would be on ebay in 5 minutes. A US$200 plugin that I can run in my DAW that sounds like the Axe? A dream come true.
But I will still give it another try. A very important factor is your input stage, and the 500k DI of my Steinberg UR28M is really not very good sounding. A friend of mine has a Universal Audio 2-610, and that tube pre has an excellent sounding 2.2M DI. I am sure it sounds much better through that one - I will try and report back how big the difference is.
Yep. Latency is a deal breaker.
No other amp modeler can match the Axe when it comes to capturing the subtle way a tube amp reacts to changes in guitar volume. You can go from glassy clean, to edgy jaggle, to throaty blues, to punchy crunch, to tight heavy rhythm, to singing violin sustaining leads all with just the turn of your volume knob. Every plugin I've tried chokes very quickly in this regard. Some might sort of clean up a little, but it's usually a very one dimensional transition. Add in the unbeatable cab IRs that are out there and the only thing that can compete the Axe is a real tube amp and cab. ...And that's without even considering the endless effects and control options on the Axe too.
It is the general consensus among BIAS users that the built-in EQing of amps is terrible. Have you tried to tonematching feature? I've found that tonematched patches sound a lot better than anything you can build without.
What a totally ridiculous thread...................
LOL Woody where you been man, like others have said, this has come up a lot recently hahaha..
Of course, Clark is such a good Tweaker he could probably make even that BIAS sound pretty good.
The video is funny/entertaining/comical so it gets peoples attention.
But really... DJENT? just sounds like noise to me.
Does Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Van Halen, Guns N Roses, Metallica, Megadeth, Jimi Hendrix, BB King, Randy Rhoads, Eric Johnson, Poison, Warrant, Cinderella, Ratt, Motley Crue, Whitesnake, Led Zeppelin, Slash, AC/DC, Exodus, Anthrax, Heathen, Possessed, Albert King, Ozzy Osbourne, Black Sabbath, Zakk Wylde, Brad Gillis, Jake E Lee, Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, Smashing Pumpkins etc? Any of those musicians and bands DJENT? I don't think so.
I don't even really know what Djent is I guess but I googled a few examples and what I herad on youtube just sounds like CRAP. Djent=another word for crap. I guess much like Punk=Crap.
I listen and can appreciate to a wide range of music as illustrated above.
But what ever this new crap people call "djent" is not one of them.
I don't even understand why people would want to djent in the first place.
So any time I see a video like this that mentions Axe Fx and Djent in the same sentence I always pee my self from laughing.
I mean really? Does anyone need a $2500 axe fx just to Djent with???? It's still gonna sound like crap because crap in = crap out. Djent is crap.
That was most comical part of the video was the dude djenting with a state of the art axe fx.
I don't understand all the phenomenon of users on here though either that post all the clips of them djenting on the axe fx. With the poor chops & melody that is Djent noise, would be just as well served with a solid state peavey bandit than a sophisticated modeler like the axe fx.
So yeah in that respect, I can see why a $200 BIAS plugin would, or should anyway make more sense for someone that just wants to Djent than getting a Axe.
Save the Axe Fx for people that want to be real masters of music & guitar virtuosos like Rhoads, Vai, Satriani etc.
Really... I didn't think Djent music was a real thing at first, I thought it was a Spinal Tap type of joke.
Axe Fx is overkill for djent.
But that was funniest part of video.
