Potentially better but anyone would notice the difference.

Easier ? No. Yes, just one cable but fighting clock rate confusion in your DAW, fighting sync problems with some audio interfaces, ... I'd prefer a built-in audio interface connected via USB.

but a lot of people doesnt have any issue with spdif,just need to find the right audio card with spdif.,also lot of people prefer to use an audio card with the axefx.
