FM9 Firmware Version 9.02

I updated to the new version on the FM9 as well as the editor, the cabs and the factory presets. No complaints.

Question:

Do I need to perform any sort of "reset" or whatever or are all of the presets upgraded/changed?

Same. I updated the FM9, then loaded my AxeFX3 presets (FW28.03) into the FM9 (FW 9.02) and they are working well. The presets sound like they do in the AF3, so I'm figuring I'm done. I have to remap some modifiers and stuff so I'll be editing and saving all the presets...I think that does whatever "reset" that needs to happen? Sorry if not...I read it but forgot. Not super concerned because everything sounds great.

They're not experiencing a cpu overload from the looks of it because the fix is to reboot and sound comes back. This has happened to quite a bit of people so far with this update and on fm3 as well. Doesn't seem to be an issue with axefx3 though from what i have seen. I've seen it in here and on facebook forums. I am sure FAS is aware of it and working on it :D

It happened to me once so far and I could move around and change presets and stuff but no sound would come out. The only fix was to reboot. Hasn't happened since though for me, so far.

I already knew that and I completely understand BROCKSTAR, but I am still curious about the CPU load.

I will give it a shot but it has happened in factory presets as well as my own which are monkey simple
idk if tuner on axe edit somehow has something to do with it as its the first and last thing I use

And you are not using any Beta Cabs or Beta anything else, right?

I've just noticed something quirky. When the FM9 boots, the initial FC layout has a switch configured to inc/dec presets, with the primary function to increment the preset, and the hold function set to decrement the preset. I want the the display to show the name of the destination preset, but it shows the name of the current preset. A single tap of the switch leaves the preset number the same, however updates the display to be the next preset, and from then on is fine. This used to work I think.

Interesting update: when the FM9 first powers on, the "Destination Name" that shows on the scribble strip is the name of the preset that corresponds to the lower limit. The target of the footswitch works as expected (so if when the unit boots, in this case on preset 10, then the destination is still preset 10). Is this expected behaviour? It seems counter-intuitive.

FM9 Firmware Version 9.02 is now available for download:
https://www.fractalaudio.com/downloads/firmware-presets/fm9/9p0/fm9_dsp_rel_9p02.zip

An updated version of FM9-Edit is required for use with this release:
https://forum.fractalaudio.com/threads/fm9-edit-1-03-12.213432/

New DynaCabs
A Dyna-Cab update is required if you are updating from a firmware version prior to 9.0 Beta 2.
The required Dyna-Cab file is included in the zip file for this release.
If you are upgrading from version 9.0 beta 1 or older, please follow the instructions in the included Firmware Update Guide. If you are updating from 9.0 beta 2 or 9.0 you do not need to reinstall Dyna-Cabs.

Preset CPU and Factory Presets
This firmware version includes major improvements to sound quality and performance. As a result, some presets now require more CPU. Older Factory Presets may exceed 80% CPU usage, especially on the standard (non-Turbo) FM9. To address this, new Factory Presets have been created for firmware 9.0+. These are not installed automatically and must be downloaded separately:

Has anyone noticed boot issues with 9.2? When I boot FM9T it boots to blank screens. I reset and it boots normal. I’ve never encountered this before update.

Sorry if I’m posting this out of place.

** I have my FM9 plugged into a furman m8d power station. I’ve always left the FM9 switch to on position, and power it on and off with the main switch for the Furman… I’ve always done it this way (without issue), but thought I should mention it in context.**

FM9 Mark II T here. Happened to me once since upgrading to 9.2, fixed with a reboot. I've probably successfully booted with 9.2 30 times since upgrading.

Good, to know. Thanks, man. I was a little worried because it’s happened to me I think 3 times now out of maybe 200 boots?

Do you use the switch every time?

Thanks in advance

I used the power switch on the back of the FM9 to reboot, but I could have also used the power strip switch. Over my 10+ years using Fractal rigs, I've probably had this happen 3 or 4 times, resolving it each time with a reboot. I never felt the need to report it as a bug, but I would chime in with similar discussions on this forum in case it was being reported by more than one person.

FWIW a few days ago, I upgraded my FM9 MkII Turbo to FW 9.02 from 9.01. I waited out some time after reading of other's unfortunately having some issues. I haven't had any problems so far. I backed prior to upgrading, installed thru Fractal-Bot, shut down and waited as per the display.
Restarted and everything was fine. I do agree with other users writing of chugging and some palm muting sounding pleasingly "chewy and juicy"!
Pinch harmonics etc. and just simple bending some strings sounding so nice under the fingers.
