How do you do this on a mac laptop with a trackpad? Is the edit in multiple presets available anywhere else?

A Dyna-Cab update is required if updating from an FM9 firmware version prior to 8.00 Beta 1.
The required Dyna-Cab file is included in the 'zip' file for this release.
If you are upgrading from version 7.00 or older, please follow the instructions in the Firmware Update guide PDF that is included to install the firmware and Dyna-Cabs. If you are updating from 8.00 beta 1 or higher, Dyna-Cabs do not need to be reinstalled.

Great update as usual but i'm having trouble getting the activity sensing to not trigger the bypass when no pedal is not plugged in (which i was looking forward to).

For example I use the synth block with pedal 2 as a volume with bypass set to Fast Pos (but Ive tried all the auto engage options). This works well with the pedal in but when unplugged it plays at full volume and i was hoping it would be silent.

It's Probably me doing something wrong but seem same on wah and ring mod as well.

I've tried RANF and using the bypass on the bypass itself too.
Latest FM9 edit.
Any thoughts.
Yes, the patch was saved with bypass set off

Why aren't the presets auto-upgraded upon firmware update? It's an extra, convoluted step to backup ALL presets, and Fractal Bot gives a warning to back them up anyway.

If they are saved under a new firmware you can't revert to a previous one.

It's not convoluted, it's pretty simple...

Make sure to save the presets in the state they should be with pedals disconnected.

Updated! The preset number has a yellow backround which is pretty dark. Is this normal?View attachment 146644

From the Release Notes:

Now when loading a preset that was created using a previous firmware version the preset number will be shown
in inverted text on the large font home GUI. This indicates that the preset needs to be saved under the current
firmware to update it for compatibility with “Gapless Changes – ALL". Presets created and saved with the
currently running firmware also load faster in general.

I don't recall ever seeing the inverted preset numbers with previous firmware updates - is this a new thing?
I followed the video linked in previous posts and my FM9 is currently "re-saving" all the presets but I'm just curious as I don't recall doing it before.

PSA - to get all presets saved to new firmware using FM9 Edit- go to a setting you never use (for me it's output level of channel D of input 1 block). "change" level from 0 to 0 and hit enter on keyboard (i.e. something is recognized as changed even though it didn't really change). Shift right-click on the block and select edit in multiple presets channel D only. Select all presets and hit enter. This will change that one parameter from 0 to 0 (iow no change) and auto-save each one with the current firmware.

Edit: Ignore me, I found it!

No matter what combination I try on my Macbook all I get is the usual right click menu - no sign of an option to "edit in multiple presets".

Shame as it's a great sounding tip

have to find an imbedded video that tells you to export your ENTIRE library and re-import it just to have it all save at the new firmware is nuts my man. Super complex and something no one is going to figure out on their own.

Yet it's the wise thing to do.
They could offer a choice to update them right away or not, but the ones picking this by accident will throw huge fits if it turns out they picked wrong, electricity fell out during update, etc.
Things are not designed mindlessly -- on the contrary
If you have these problems all the time, try the simplified VP4.

IMO, the web suffered a lot dumbing down things for phones and tablets. Photoshop is dumbing down, etc.
Let's not dumb down a great thing here -- pick another manufacturer.
But sure, there are always things to improve. You could first think a little why things are like they are.

Plenty of people did figure it out and using multiple methods, too...

#1 I figured it out which is why I quoted the process here.
#2 every other firm ware update has been 5 minutes. This one was a bit longer to get the weird yellow box off the number, that's really all I was trying to do.

Again, the yellow highlight is telling you something.

It didn't take you longer to update the firmware, right? And the firmware update process was no different than others (except if you needed DynaCabs or new USB Firmware, but that's an atypical thing).

It took you some time to address what that indicator was telling you. And that's your choice to do or not.

Your previous post said "nobody is going to figure it out" and this post you said "I figured it out"...

Most people learned how to resave all their presets with the gapless change, since it was required for that to be enabled properly.

I agree that it would be nice to have a built-in utility but it's really not that hard.

Yes, double check and repeated they were saved off and it made no difference.

Thanks for the replies. I had read the release notes and the previous post but was just asking if it was a new "thing" as I hadn't seen it before.

The first time I remember needing to do this was for fw 6. Which was the first fully gapless preset/scene switching fw. I don't recall needing to re-save presets for fw 7 or 8 (and the gapless switching was clearly still working for me with each of those updates), but did find it was necessary for fw 8.0.1 because there was an audible difference when switching from preset to preset.

I always save my gig/work presets (at a minimum) from update to update to make sure I can roll back to a prior fw if needed, but it seems to me it would be a good idea to put a little more emphasis on this when re-saving presets is needed on any given fw update. It was not as clear for me on fw 8.0.1 as it was on fw 6 for example. From my read of the latest release notes, the new indicator going forward will be when the preset number is inverted in color, that means the preset needs to be re-saved under the new fw.

It would appear there are up to 4 different ways to re-save presets, one at a time (not ideal for some of us), or one of three batch re-save methods which are now scattered in different places in this thread. Do I have this right?
