FM9 Firmware Version 8.01

I believe it says in the release notes that this will happen until the preset is saved with new firmware.
Does this need to be done with every firmware update? I know this was needed for the fw 6 update, but I never did it again for fw 7 or 8 and still had gapless switching across both presets and scenes with each of these updates.

That said, I did the batch re-save again for fw 8.0.1 and I think it made a difference. I still feel like there is something different happening when switching between presets vs scenes when it comes to the gapless switching. Again, switching between scenes IS gapless and as expected. Switching between presets, while very fast compared to earlier fw versions, doesn't always seem as sooth & instant for some reason. I'll spend some more time with it, but I'm curious to hear if anyone else notices anything along these lines.

Did you do it the way Inside Out described or did you use Fractool? Fractool doesn't appear to be working correctly with this firmware yet.

I think the release notes will always specify if it's needed and not mention it if not.

Evidently something went wrong on my 1st attempt to batch re-save all my presets (probably operator error) because the color of the preset number was still inverted. I re-did them and now everything is back to normal. Gapless love everywhere.

From the release notes:

Now when loading a preset that was created using a previous firmware version the preset number will be shown in inverted text on the large font home GUI. This indicates that the preset needs to be saved under the current firmware to update it for compatibility with “Gapless Changes – ALL". Presets created and saved with the currently running firmware also load faster in general.

So if the color of your preset number is inverted, you do need to re-save it in fw 8.0.1.

Now im not so sure. I have the same thing and definitely refreshed and it's still there. Maybe I misunderstood the patch notes.

EDIT: Nevermind, simply saving the preset again was what was needed, not RANF (which happens automatically with new firmware releases afaik)

I guess I have to go through ALL 90 of my presets and manually save them... 🤷‍♂️

I updated/resaved all of my presets, even the empty ones as they also show the inverted text. Used this method:

PSA - to get all presets saved to new firmware using FM9 Edit- go to a setting you never use (for me it's output level of channel D of input 1 block). "change" level from 0 to 0 and hit enter on keyboard (i.e. something is recognized as changed even though it didn't really change). Shift right-click on the block parameter you changed and select edit in multiple presets channel D only. Select all presets and hit enter. This will change that one parameter from 0 to 0 (iow no change) and auto-save each one with the current firmware.
Thank you for this helpful tip and edit. I didn't know this.

This method works most efficiently and quickly. Be sure to perform a backup of your files prior to implementing this change to your system. The result will be that the large screen front panel numeric indicator no longer displays in a dark brown mustard color, but more a yellow mustard.

It's really no secret. From your FM9 Backups, select Banks A through D in list format once they've been backed up by left-clicking on Bank A and dragging through Bank D. Open Manage Presets, and drag the highlighted Bank A through D into the browser side view. Your FM9 presets, both system and user, will populate there.

Scroll through the presets while highlighted on the left to be sure all of what you wish to work with will be there. With all presets in the left view screen highlighted, left-click and drag the first (59 Bassguy) preset into the right view screen, matching up the print perfectly. Release the left mouse click.

Small, darkish dots will appear to the left of each system and user preset. In the lower right hand corner of the open screen, click 'Save,' and the FM9 will begin to save each preset counting from 001 to your last user preset until it finishes with the empty user slots. As each preset is saved, the darkish dot will disappear indicating saved.

Wait until the process completes (about 10 to 15 minutes).

Once the process finishes, your large front panel view screen will no longer display its numeric indicator with a dark brown mustard hue. The color will be returned to the original bright yellow mustard color prior to the 8.01 FW.

Guess I'll get to play through the already installed this morning 8.01 after Alabama gets
through annihilating my poor USC Gamecocks in football... Then again, I may play with it from
halftime on... LoL!

How do you do this on a mac laptop with a trackpad? Is the edit in multiple presets available anywhere else?
