FM9 Firmware Version 11.0 public beta #1

Thank you Fractal, I’ve just woken up and first thing I’ll do after breakfast is to update the firmware, can’t wait to play with it

Loaded the new beta 11 and dyna cab file. Updated the editor, and RANFed - twice. Getting a weird behavior with my switches. Changing scenes, or selecting an effect will randomly switch to scene 8. It's my main preset, so I restored it from a backup - still happening. After rolling back to FW10 all my scribble strips went blank and the footswitches stopped working. I had to reload the global system backup file and they came back. Very strange behavior. I deleted the beta files. Maybe tomorrow I’ll try redownloading them and reinstalling them.

Update the editor?

The update went flawless, i've quickplayed through my presets and found zero problems in my use cases. Now heading off to enjoy the new FW. Thank you, also for fixing the bug i reported recently!

Great update. Pre/power amp changes are small but contribute to a feeling of a more fluid playing experience. Surround Delay is a lot of fun. Really good block to drop in if you want a big delay and don't want to think too hard about it.

I've been playing my main presets with the new firmware for a couple of hours. As for improved feel, I thought it felt great in Version 10 but it just got a little better!

so my patches will change is that correct?
Like AX8 days
Amp modeling improvements may require small tweaks to presets if you choose to update. The alternative is the Line 6 paradigm where they almost never improve the amp modeling on existing amps, they just keep adding random new ones. Same for effects. So you end up in Helix’s situation where all the classic amps that really matter have 10+ year old modeling, and 20+ year old effects from the DL-4, M5, etc.

Addendum: huge update if you play in lower tunings especially. Tightened up bass = tones that hit harder even with same amount of gain.

The real game changer is being able to just pull up a factory preset (5153+Stealth, Red scene) set gain/TMB as you normally would, and get satisfying chug tones in lower tunings without feeling an immediate need for multiband comp, PEQs, etc. They probably still help, of course. But getting a great metal tone feels much easier with this and being able to tweak Dynacab alignment.

Presets don't get updated by firmware updates... Regardless of being Factory or user presets.
Thanks, that was understood. I think @DaveO's question was if user presets would also update when firmware or preset updates occurred. Given that the former are user-created, and the latter factory-created, it made sense that only the factory-created firmware or presets would be affected by something factory-associated. How could it be possible otherwise, knowing its the user who creates a user preset?

EDIT: Just viewed your response to @DaveO. This is great news. You're saying that user presets will also automatically update with new firmware/factory preset updates, or just the factory presets?

Prerequisite is to update FM9 editor first before trying to update anything else.
