I feel like dad is going to yell again :rolleyes::D Also; Charlie Dominic and that first album.

I haven't loaded the latest fw but will do so here probably soon-ish to hear the hubub in person.

Edited for: I'm not clicking on that @JRod4928

LOL

For some reason, Labrie thought it would be cool to sing that instead of As I Am. Not contrived at all.

The boot up failure issue is not a small bug.
I haven't experienced a boot up failure at all. I have seen the screen go blank for a couple seconds, but I wouldn't classify that as a failure. There is nothing happening in this release for me that would prevent me from gigging with it. For a beta released within a week, that is pretty solid. Not saying there are no issues, but to suggest that there are massive problems with 5.XX is a bit much.

I find in todays atmosphere those who decide what is permissible and what is not have no consistency in their logic and becomes very fascistic quickly. In fact those who want to control speech don’t believe in “private” anything. So somewhere there is a major disconnect. I think it’s called cognitive dissonance.
In fairness, the company that owns this forum does, in fact, get to decide what is permissible and what is not. They own it. That said, no one is censoring your opinion here - some are simply pointing out what they see as flaws in your, or others', logic. The goal of a thread like this should be to quickly identify real, persistent issues with the beta that can be replicated, targeted in the code, and fixed before final release. The discussion here will be much more productive, and useful to all users, if we keep it that way.

All good here, too. All things considered this seems like a fairly solid Beta to me as well on
both of the FM3s here.

Somebody wake me when 5 comes out of beta.
I simply posited a possible explanation for why version 5 remains in beta

We're not being fanboi's just because we react to your chicken little routine.

Stop with this "5 is still in beta" nonsense. The 5.01 firmware is officially released. It's good. Enjoy it. The 5.02 firmware is in beta. Choose to take it if you like. Report bugs if you feel up to it. Or wait until the non-beta release. Or don't take firmware updates at all. Nobody forced you to update firmware. Nobody owes you anything.

You are free to say and write whatever you want. The rest of us are free to point out how ridiculous you are.

I simply posited a possible explanation for why version 5 remains in beta with "persistent" (non-ending) reports of odd behavior and increased CPU usage. I can't recall a previous version being this problematic, that's all.
Go back and look at the history with 1.04. That took from April to June and eight (public) betas (who knows how many we didn't see).

I've been playing with the Dirty Shirley model from a preset I had and there seems a bit of a difference in the power amp modeling compared to 5.0 beta. The new 5.02 beta seems more scooped in sound

Attached are 2 file one from 5.0 beta and 5.02 beta. Each file has same chords played twice once with power amp on and then off.
5.02 there seems difference in volume between the power amp and non power amp setting.
Hard to say if 5.02 is behaving as it should.
I think I managed to solve my issue - it looks like in 5.02 beta the speaker compression for the Dirty Shirley was cranked to about 2.5 which is way more than I would use - (I had reset the channel as well) - Anyway I set to 0 and it was sounding good again.

V5.0 isn't in beta.

Neither is V5.01, which is the latest official release.

The 5.02 firmware in this thread is in beta, but that doesn't alter the fact that there have been two official, non-beta, releases of 5.x for the FM3.

Perhaps you are thinking of 2.0 for the FM9, which is still in beta?

In some respects I can see GTR65's point - the 5.0 beta was very different to what was released in 5.0 mainly due to the CFNB modelling which effectively went straight into the official release. 5.01 was released the day after 5.0 due to volume issue and then all the issues with the power amp surfaced. The power amp issues were acknowledged straight away but then took a month for it to be released into this beta.
In my opinion the power amp issue fix should have been released asap as it was fundamental problem. Then a line could have been drawn under it.
With 5.02 beta the power amp issue looks to have been fix but at the same time further development has been done with as well.

I've worked in a development cycle so these are things that you learn from.
