It does not remove or harm them at all. It just ensures they are all in the correct internal format.
Heh... well... technically, the terrible power-off time is right after it's gone to 100%. Esp. if it's in the middle of the write. Avoid upgrading during lightning storms. Or having your computer on at the time, for that matter.P.S. I'm kidding. Never turn off your Axe FX in the middle of an upload, it would probably fry it.
I wrestled with some similar problems on my Mac Pro. I got connected with my Presonus Firestudio interface via Firewire and got 100% through the upload and then got the 'Bad Checksum' error. :-( Next I tried my Midisport 2x2 via USB. I'd reboot the computer, power off/on the Axe, and close&open Axe-Edit. Everytime I began the transfer, I'd lose the midi connection. Keep in mind the loopback test is supposed to be conducted with one midi cable connected to the in and out of your midi interface. You do the test with the Axe disconnected. The loopback test just verifies that your computer is sending and receiving data.Hey all, I've been trying to upgrade firmware to the latest (11) from 10.5 but keep getting a BAD CHECKSUM error in the AXE-FX. I have a MIDISPORT 1X1 as my MIDI port, but the Loopback test ALWAYS fails in the AXE-EDIT despite recognizing my Ultra and being able to load presets, etc. I've also tried to upgrade the firmware via MIDI-OX with the proper recommended settings (Low Level I/O Buffers: size - 256, number - 16, Milliseconds between buffers: 90). Again, bad checksum.
I also tried to uninstall the midisport, remove all M-audio drivers and let the defaults take over to no avail....Getting completely frustrated at this point as I see no reason why MIDI would be buggy after decades of existence. Anyone please help!
ps- Windows XP (SP3), MIDISPORT 1X1
Mac or PC?Easiest update yet. No issues using Midisport 2x2.
PCMac or PC?
After the firmware is loaded in the Axe press "UTILITY" button go to the "PRESET" page and on the bottum of that page you'll see the "UPDATE ALL PRESETS" scroll down and click "ENTER".
I would like to know this too. I don't know what it really does so I haven't done it.I read that we did not need to do this with the new update (FW 11) as the format of the presets did not change.
That is my understanding.. IIRC read it one of the announcement posts about 11.I read that we did not need to do this with the new update (FW 11) as the format of the presets did not change.
