Legacy Firmware 9 + Das Metall/Ownhammer/Blackmachine

Thanks guys!

Believe it or not, excluding the drums (using a preset in Metal Machine) the guitars and bass are all raw from the Axe-FX II. Nothing is mixed or even PEQ'd in the patches, or in the DAW. The and high and low passes on the guitars are the standard settings for the Das Metall amp.
On the master channel in Reaper, all I have running is a BBE Sonic Maximiser plugin and the Slate FG-X plug in for a bit of an overall volume boost.

A lot of the overall sound comes from how well the bass and guitar patches complement each other.

Nice sounding stuff, man. I'd love to hear some lyrics with it. I'd even give it a go if you are down with it and are mixing in Logic. It sounds really great, so please don't take this next part the wrong way. I'd love to hear a non-soundcloud version of this. It might just be me, but I feel especially on drums (any material above 8kHz really) that over the last 3 months, soundcloud compression has started getting stronger bit by bit. I'm working on an album and while I'll be uploading it for free streaming on Soundcloud, I'm going to look for a different avenue for better audio.

Yup. The Das Metall is becoming again, one of my favorite go-to amps for high gain. I mean, I love the Diezel stuff too, but the Das Metall and FAS Modern are both just so excellent. I really love the FAS amps more and more every day though. Keep it up man!

The idea/song is still being fleshed out so I'm probably a little way away from handing it over to our singer, hopefully we won't keep you waiting too long haha but thank you for the offer! Also, I'm mixing in Reaper.
Soundcloud really did comp the hell out of it, almost so much that I was a little hesitant in putting it up, compared to the 320kbps render used to upload it. Any suggestions of an alternative?

I'm using a global block set up on my high gain and lead patches so I just switch amps every couple of weeks (usually between FAS Modern, Das Metall and the Dizzy) just because I can, which is probably my favourite thing about the Axe-FX II <3

Sick tones as usual, can you be more specific as to what Ownhammer IR(s) you used?

Thank you Sir! It's just the Beta 412 Bogner V31, SM57 6

I don't know of any streaming websites quite like Soundcloud - they really have a margin pegged in on the ease of use, style, and general marketing technique. There's always drop box, setting up a download cloud, or some other file sharing device. There's nothing streaming on the internet that doesn't compress to a certain degree. I'm just starting to find that Soundcloud is beginning to get REALLY noticeable. Like non-musicians, non-musically interested people can tell, which is saying something.

I don't know if your rate gets better if you buy an account. It's something I'm going to look into. Anybody else have any suggestions?

Wow, I'm loving this. Very atmospheric and evocative. Especially the intro + first part. That "lead-theme" from the intro is REALLY cool!

Not sure if you're looking for criticism on this kind of stuff, but I'm shamelessly going to say it anyway ;) - all subjective, of course:
I feel like you lose something with the transition to the part at 1:26. The transition is too sudden, with no real buildup. Also, these riffs don't have the same vibe to them as the rest of the track - it doesn't feel like they really belong there. I do like that you move away from the "lead-theme" and the clean melodies briefly, and I love the way you reintroduce them with the transition into the next part (1:49). The ending has some of the same problems as the 1:26-part - it doesn't really fit in, in my opinion - and I feel like it needs to climax more here. Again, this is all subjective, of course, and great job with the lead-, clean- and bass-melodies. :)

Thanks for taking the time to listen and critique!
Definitely appreciate the input :)

This was very much just pieced together as I was playing around with the new firmware and it turned in to a demo of sorts, but certainly isn't structurally arranged, and to me, doesn't feel anywhere near complete, but what song is ever complete? You basically just end up abandoning it! haha

Really digging this! As Sten said, the distorted guitar is a little scratchy for me, but I love the overall sound of this. Stellar writing!
